Jeff at Taste of Chicago

Recommended Posts

I think a lot of people don't even know they sell tickets now OR they figure "why should I pay for a seat when I can sit on the lawn for free?"  The problem with that logic is that you get what you pay for, and when you're searching the lawn for a postage-stamp sized piece of real-estate surrounded by drunk kids who aren't interested enough to actually listen to the show and can't see the stage anyway, you'll be saying "why didn't I buy a seat?"

I must be really thick and out of it..  I had no idea these Taste shows, including Jeff are at the Petrilo. I mean what the fuck?  I just assumed they would only sell tickets for shows at the Pritzger.  I have a ticket through a friend, but this is really weird.  It is long past time for them to completely tear down Petrillo and hold everything at Millennium.

I agree that soundwise it would be a lot better at Pritzker, but I think they probably need to keep Petrillo because Pritzker is just too big for most acts if it's a ticketed show. I suppose they could make the lawn free there and just ticket the seating area, but even then it might be too big for something that isn't Wilco? I don't know.

As far as the time question, almost all outdoor shows in Chicago (unless there are extenuating circumstances or they have special permission) have to be over by 10. So I would imagine that the show will be able to go until then, depending on when it starts...

(Edit: Just looked at my tickets and it says doors at 2:30 and showtime at 4. So Lucinda would presumably start around 5 and then TWEEDY would be from 6-whenever. So maybe 7:45 is a good guess for when the show would be over?)

The lawn at Petrillo is bigger than Pritzer I think, but I really don't know.  I always used to defend Petrillo, but now that I am used to Prizger it is hard to go back.  I attended Bluesfest and while it was fun, it isn't nearly as good a place to see anything as Millenium.  Nothing hardly goes past 10, but with this show it will probably be over well before that.

Now I actually want to see TWEEDY in a real theater.

I recently found some blank tapes in my basement --- I thought of taping it, but I now I only have an old Sony boom-box - so I am not too sure how well it will turn out. I have a family function to attend, so now I will not be going to to the show anyway - so I might as well try it. I will be more than happy to send you a cassette   ---- guess it will it be the master tape, too - since I have no way of dubbing tapes, anymore. :lol

Thank you, Calvino! If you are able to do it, I'll send you my address. I have a feeling this will be an especially good show since it's for the hometown crowd.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic but the radar on my phone shows heavy rain now while the other storm cloud appears to be heading north of Chicago.  I've been looking forward to this show for a while and drove in town thursday night to take in Chicago and taste before TWEEDY takes the stage needless to say I have a lot invested in this trip.  Really hoping for a couple of rain free hours.  I have high hopes for the hometown show and setlist.  Looking forward to hearing the Suekierae songs again now that I've had time to let them simmer a bit.

Rain or Shine Im stoked TWEEDY Via Chicago!

Note: if the TB is Whipping Me is played I will be the man who stands up and screams woohoo!
