kidsmoke
I suppose it's because my daughter is graduating in a couple of weeks, but for whatever reason I woke up a few mornings ago with my Alma mater humming in my head. I can't remember all of it though, just the part that goes: "Our hearts delight to be with youpraise and honor to your namethroughout this mighty countrywe'll hide in shame..." Of course that's not how the words actually go....the last line there should be "we'll spread your fame", but nobody I knew actually sang it that way. Even teachers were known to slip into the "mistaken" lyrics. At assemblies with everyone singing, it was "we'll hide in shame" that rang out clearest. Do you remember yours? Was it as sappy as mine? We defend the gold and purple,Wherever we may be,Our hearts forever faithful to our old school in HP!Rah Rah!
kidsmoke
Now these songs are all stuck in your heads, aren't they? I'm sorry. I'm especially sorry to NoJ. My daughter's school mascot is also the husky. But they aren't allowed to use your colorful adjective.
bleedorange
I assume you mean high school, which I was just able to sing in my head. Playing sports throughout school where we sang the school song after every game certainly helped with the recall. College was easy. I've known "The Eyes of Texas" since I was a kid. bjorn_skurj
I know my college has an alma mater, but I would like a new one, entitled "Sweet Home SUNY New Paltz" and set to the tune of the famous Skynyrd song.
Winston Legthigh
I had to look mine up. I know the University of Minnesota fight song, from attending so many hockey games back in the day, but I didn't recognize the alma mater at all. I think I just heard it for the first time just now.
