I love what you said there. I feel my my fandom waning at times, and then I see a show where they reinforce every bit of energy I've ever expended in their direction. The shows on this tour have been the best and most magical of any I've seen. Wilco abides.

Thanks for posting-- terrific photos BTW!

I was there! We drove 7 hours for this show because it was on my 28th birthday. :)

Wow. What a show it was! I was really happy that Jeff honored all 3 of my requests! (Nothingsever..., Far Far Away, and Hummingbird).

A friend told me that St. Louis Wilco shows were special, and man they were right. Jeff definitely seemed very humbled and simultaneously super proud to be playing where he grew up. Very cool they recorded the show so his dad could listen, also. I hope it makes it into the roadcase too.

The band was just as good as the last time I saw them in the fall. All the songs sounded amazing. Not sure if anybody else mentioned it, but there were a couple things that I hadn't seen happen at a Wilco show before, the first was that Jeff had lyric prompts for "Dark Neon". Not surprised since it's probably one of the most obscure Wilco tunes ever. Definitely sounded awesome though. A bit chaotic, but awesome (thanks, Brianne for planting that seed in Jeff's ear a long time ago!!) after it was over he asked how many of us knew that song, me and 2 others on the rail said we did, and he said "okay, 3 people. not bad" or something like that. Pretty funny.

the second thing that was different from all the other shows I've seen was the arrangement of Kingpin. It was not drawn out. There were no extended solos and it was more straight ahead like the Being There version. I really enjoyed that.

The Cali Stars encore of Wilco/Tweedy was so good. I'd bet something similar happens at Solid Sound.

It was just a spectacular time all around. The hootenanny encore was so good. I didn't want them to stop.

On a personal note, I have never in my life felt cooler than when Glenn Kotche pointed at me before the band left for their 1st encore and said "Happy Birthday!" oh my gosh I was so tickled. He's such an awesome person, and such a performer. :wub

Also, earlier in the day Tweedy did a 6 song in-store at Vintage Vinyl down the street from the club. They played

Diamond Light

World Away

Summer Noon

Low Key

The Losing End (Neil Young cover)

Only the Lord Knows

It sounded good for the circumstances, huge props to the road crew for making it sound so good. Jeff's amp started to shit out during Only The Lord Knows, and I think was the reason they omitted the last tune on the list "Love Like A Wire", though I didn't ask him about it.

It was cool to see them in such a small setting- there was probably less than 100 people there.

I doubt I deserve much credit, Sarah, but I'm certainly glad to see it popping up regularly in setlists! :D

I'd love to see another St. Louis Wilco show one of these days. Sounds like it was a good one, and thanks for the reports.

Hey thats my Mom, sister and I right there!  Check out my cool new avatar! :banana

I thought the show was killer!  I saw them in the fall at the Ryman over two nights which was also stellar but the two shows seemed different than the St. Louis gig.  The band seemed to be more on point.  Nels was extremely into it lighting the place up. :guitar   Tweedy looked over during multiple solos which sparked a laugh between him and Stirratt.  I couldn't tell if Tweedy was oogling over him shredding or laughing cuz they were stretching out the jams more so than other nights.  As Sarah said Kingpin was tightened up, so in hindsight knowing that maybe some other songs have been squeezed up for the tour considering there are openers and the band is still going for 25-30 songs a night.

Thought the setlist was great and Tweedy was in good spirits all day (vintage vinyl) and night!  He was pretty chatty at Vintage Vinyl which was cool too :ike   I told them I would see them at Solid Sound and told Spence to bring some Blisters 45's for us to buy!

Also the way they had the pit set up at the Pageant for over 21 with the underage space to the right was convenient as well.  I don't really enjoy this venue compared to some other great ones I've been too however seeing Wilco here was of course awesome and special. I thought the crowd was pretty great too(minus the one drunk dude who got booted right before set). :headbonk

It was great seeing you Sarah!  I'm the one who has now met you at the Ryman, Vintage Vinyl, and The Pageant!  Your super cool and such a dedicated fan!  Happy Birthday again what a great 28!  Glad Glenn did that for you as well!  He is so cool!  Much love

The poster is also up in the store now too.  I inevitably snagged one.  Riverboat Wilco!  Note Tweedy was wearing a Mark Twain shirt... riverboat reference??? :yeaahh

Was at show as well...great as usual. Different vibe than winterlude (was at night 5) which seemed more laid back. Regarding kingpin arrangement- wasn't surprised by the way they approached it (really liked it in fact. I was surprised they played it at all as I remember hearing Jeff say at one point last year that that night was going to be the last time they would do the call and response...insinuating that it was getting stale. Anyways, was happy to hear it though I do miss the audience participation. One thing that stood out was Jeff's intense facial expressions and body language during camera...he really gets into it...very cool.

yes I definitely noticed the facial expressions and body language acting out the song.  It pushed it to another level.  Some really tall guy slamming PBRs next to me when the band kicked in goes "freaking kamera and they're playing it the cool way!"  I gave him a bro fist in my mind

Hi, froggie, I taped the show.  If you want to burn the show to disc, you can split the show however you'd like (or however it makes most sense).  Few tapers track out shows according to compact disc lengths any longer; that is more of a legacy tracking method that dates back to the time when CD's were the medium of choice.  Nowadays, most tapers just track out the show sequentially, because of the myriad of playback options available (i.e.: portable music devices, smartphones, cloud-based streaming, etc).

I hope that answers your question.  If not, please let me know.

Thanks, Chris.
