Muzzle of Dan
Here's an article on Summerteeth that was posted by the Wilco Facebook page... http://www.trunkworthy.com/the-kaleidoscopic-and-oddly-overlooked-pop-masterpiece-where-wilco-became-wilco/
Mr. Heartbreak
It's a great album. Worth noting that on the Wilco comp What's Your 20? there are 6 songs each from BT, ST and YHF. None of the other records are as highly represented. Just an observation.
smells like flowers
Ah, Summerteeth. The one where I fell deep into the Wilco well. All the studio tomfoolery intrigued me (birds chirping! opera samples!) but the lyrics are what cemented it. Sleepy kissers, fragile family trees, cups cracked and hooked. Sigh. choo-choo-charlie
The one that got me hooked. My first love of the Wilco world. Still holds up incredibly well today. I think people will continue to realize its genius over time.
worldrecordplayer
I still frequently listen to this album. Definitely my most listened to Wilco studio release.
worldrecordplayer
I still frequently listen to this album. Definitely my most listened to Wilco studio release. Inspired me to listen to a couple sides of the vinyl. Sounds freakin great. Love this album.
Mr. Heartbreak
Via Chicago, She's a Jar, Shot in the Arm,When You Wake Up Feeling Old, How to Fight Loneliness, I'm Always in Love, Pieholden...what's not to love?
choo-choo-charlie
I really enjoy transition albums. This one is just so special, being the bridge between the alt-country, rootsy sounds of AM/BT (and yes, BT had some flourishes of more complex sounds) -- and the complete metamorphosis in sound achieved during the YHF/AGIB era. It's really no wonder that it was forgotten during its time, but like I said before, it has held up incredibly well. A masterpiece.

I remember being underwhelmed the first few times I listened to it - I was wanting more of the Being There rockers at the time. Then I got overwhelmed listening to it, in a good way. Via Chicago was the first to stand out, then She's A Jar, Pieholden Suite, I'm Always in Love.....

Beyond my technical skills, but surely somebody can do it when the recording surfaces.

Mr. Heartbreak
In a future age. But that's about it.I also like the title track, Nothingsevergonna... and ELT, too. I mean, come on, the entire ELT forum was named after that song!
Passenger Sid
Summerteeth is my favorite Wilco album and I think their best. It felt really magical at the time and I still get enjoyment from it. Just a few months before, R.E.M.'s "Up" and Mercury Rev's "Deserter's Songs" were released. The Flaming Lips' "The Soft Bulletin" arrived 3 months after Summerteeth. I can't think of a better run of cd releases. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've listened to one of those 4 cd's.

The first time I saw Wilco was when they opened for REM during their Up tour, down in St. Louis. Summerteeth is still my favorite. I was able to catch some Tweedy solo shows at Lounge Ax where he played some Summerteeth tunes prior to its record release -- I was amazed to hear the studio versions when the record came out.
