bböp
Surprised that no one has posted about this yet. I'd be curious to know whether the person who kept the wallet was actually a Wilco fan or not... http://gothamist.com/2016/02/17/wallet_found_half_returned.php
tinnitus photography
sounds like more a Deadhead.
Yaz Rock
Hadn't seen that, thanks for the link. I can spend more than three minutes on diet coca cola and 147 unread comments. Jeez, what a riot.Who says "Toodles"? Looks like old man handwriting, probably the same rowcrasher who was tripping next to me the last half the night.
Magnetized
They actually covered this on the Today show this morning and they mentioned that it was at a concert, but they didn't mention Wilco. And you're right that it sounds like a stereotypical Deadhead move. Not even necessarily that poorly intentioned, but not realizing the uselessness of the gesture of returning credit cards and drivers license, all of which would surely have been replaced immediately. Definitely an amusing story.
dagwave
"sounds more like a Deadhead""who was tripping next to me""Who says Toodles" whats the old saying about people that judge don't matter and people that matter don't judge- wait, that's it.

I felt bad making what sounded like a dig on Deadheads. I really didn't mean it that way. But ya gotta admit there's a stereotypical image of a kind of good natured, spaced out Grateful Dead fan. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
SarahC
I loved Wilco's tweet about the situation telling the jerk to save his dollars next time by not buying a ticket to their show. Absolutely perfect.
remphish1
On channel 7 news the interview the guy said..we could have been friends..we had the same taste in music, wilco and the same taste in wallets! lol

No reason why the entire wallet and all its contents couldn't be returned.

worldrecordplayer
Of course the Deadhead references make no sense. I could mount a response but ultimately not worth the effort.

As an adult, it's a dick move to capitalize on another's (particularly a known other's) misfortune.
Magnetized
Some of my best friends are Deadheads! Seriously, I was just playing around with the stereotype, not meaning in any way to insult Grateful Dead fans. As to what this guy did specifically, of course it was a dick move. I think what makes this seem so funny is the way he chose to explain himself, along with the futile gesture of returning the cards and license. Like that makes him a righteous dude! As a aside, I lost my wallet at Solid Sound in 2013. I think it just slipped out of my pocket. But it was turned into security with everything intact and even a little note attached. So Wilco fans rule!
worldrecordplayer
I don't take it as a personal insult. I just think it's a bogus stereotype and doesn't comport with my experience over the last 40+ years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Sun Caught Fire
I don't take it as a personal insult. I just think it's a bogus stereotype and doesn't comport with my experience over the last 40+ years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Same here as i approach the 39th anniversary of my first of 209 Grateful Dead concerts before Jerry died, only up to 58 Wilco since 2004 but trying! I can see it was basically in jest but very far from my experience since my close deadhead friends are super successful in terms of career/real world and hardly spacy other than in the midst of a spacy jam.
