The Decemberists are set to release a double album some time next year. That's at the top of my list right now.

Any source online? Can’t find anything about it (yet), but I’m very hopeful for a return to form after their last (mediocre at best) album.

If you can't open it here's a quote from the Substack entry:

Today, I am almost entirely certain that this will be a double album, despite the usual warnings from the people with better commercial/financial sense than I — that double LPs are invariably more expensive and fewer people buy them.

This was published by Colin in mid October, and in December he posted that the recording process was complete.

:lol

I liked Five Easy Hot Dogs! But yes, here's hoping for something more conventional* this year.

(*conventional for Mac is still wacky!)

One more I had been hoping for was announced today — Faye Webster on March 1.

Wilco tie-in here: She had been playing a new song on her most recent tour with the working title "Wilco Type Beat." Very catch song, like a cross of "Jesus, Etc." and "Impossible Germany." I really hope it's on here.

Not bad for album releases/announcements only 6 weeks into the year. I think this is going to be a good year for music releases.

Pearl Jam is getting ready to release 2024's Dark Matter LP. Official date TBA.

As evidenced by the fact that I've been refreshing the Ten Club message board every ten minutes for the last six weeks...

The one by the artist that I have never heard of before that is going to become a new favorite.

Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, "Revelations" on 3/29

Whatever Blind Pilot has in the pipeline, whenever that happens.

EDIT:

The one release I was probably most looking forward to this year (so far) actually came out Friday: the Painting With John soundtrack from John Lurie.

Bummer. I was looking forward to a double dose of new music from them. Still excited about the new album though.
