i used to despise pitchfork, but ive gotten over it and realized 90% of the new stuff i wind up liking comes from their recommendations, and id probably never hear most of it otherwise. im not saying i blindy follow whatever they say...but i do typically agree. are they self important? without a doubt. but still a good resource. -
just dont stand under the balcony/in front of the bar, because i have found the sound to be pretty muddy there
-
i like the riv and to be honest, im not a fan of non-GA shows. kind of puts an automatic damper on the whole thing

That would be Heath Ledger

Chicago is looking particularly bad ass as Gotham.

i think its time to just go back to putting tickets on sale at the box office only and having to buy in person.

Not disputing any of that. Just saying for people who have never been in the area before, its not the same type of neighborhood as Metro, or Double Door, and you do need to exercise a little more caution if you wind up parking on a side street.

Like anywhere else in Chicago, things can change block by block. Its not an area I would be wandering around in late at night outside of the main drag. etc. Yes it has improved over the past few years, but still not the best.

is it just me or do the start times seem pretty early? (doors at 6PM on a weeknight?). that can be pretty tough for a lot of people to make.

Its all about Villa Nova on Pershing Rd (39th), a couple blocks east of Harlem in Stickney Chicago may be "known" for deep dish, but I would reckon locals eat other variations (thin crust, pan, etc) 90% of the time. I have deep dish maybe twice a year. Freddys in Cicero makes a killer fluffy Sicilian pizza http://www.freddyspizza.com/index.html In general, i think the near west burbs beat the city in regards to pizza offerings. Hell, I've got 75 joints that deliver within 2 miles alone.

92 children and 3 nuns died in the Our Lady Of Angels fire, a catholic grammar school in Chicago. http://www.olafire.com/FireSummary.asp Such a sad story, but one which needs to be remembered Sorry for the downer.

whats the point of buying $400 worth of hardware, when you can just get the book for $5? and what year are we in, 1989?

i remember when facebook consisted of one picture, a list of hobbies, and a message board comprised of crappy hyperlinked text and people would check it all the time to see if their university was finally added

im comparing downtown rents, you know what i meant

i have a friend who rents a studio in marina city. small pad, but one hell of a view. the interiors are outdated as all get out tho. (place has always jokingly been referred to as the "trailer park in the sky"). the condo board is really strict about what you can do with your balcony too...either green astroturf, or keep it bare. but considering the rent is only 1 grand to live in a landmark building right on the chicago river, i guess you cant complain (try that in NY)

The only thing weirder than Dylan in a Cadillac commercial is hearing (smog) as a backing track for a Cadillac commercial.
