  1. I checked Oink this morning ... not there yet. Neither is the new Spoon.
  2. That "effort" turned into twenty-three posts. That's not an effort, that's a campaign.
  3. There are poor children in Africa who could have used that guitar. I still don't get what's so great about this band.
  4. I acknowledge that I'm firmly in the camp that finds West to be disappointing, but that aside, your constant cheerleading for this record is becoming extremely tiresome. Dude. Some of us don't like the album all that much. The more you try to tell us how great it is, the more firmly entrenched we're likely to become in our opposition to it, or at least to you. We're fully entitled to not be enthralled with this album ... just let it go.
  5. noah's post didn't say that YHF wasn't "remarkable" on the first listen. I think it was merely pointing out that the full treasures of YHF took several subsequent listens to fully appreciate. That's the mark of a great album anyway -- that it's still giving you more, or you're still getting more out of it, even after listening to it many times.
  6. Something tells me you haven't actually heard much of their stuff.
  7. Nice. I can kinda hear him singing that -- it would rule.
  8. Neil Finn is one of the few living songwriters I revere more than Jeff Tweedy.
  9. "Natural juices" aren't really that healthy for you (depending on what you're actually drinking). Fruit juice in general has a very high glycemic index and spikes your blood sugar, and that's not healthy. It's much healthier to eat an entire piece of fruit, so you get some fiber to balance out all that sugar. I'm not an nutritionist either.
  10. Salon.com reported on this stuff two years ago. Apparently it takes the big bad Washington Post to get anyone to notice.
  11. The Byrds (probably Sweetheart of the Rodeo era, with McGuinn on vocals) doing "Forget the Flowers." Pretty obvious, but I'd still love to hear it. Also: Tom Waits doing "Red Eyed and Blue."
  12. Cowboy Junkies doing "How to Fight Loneliness."
  13. Maybe I should come back for a visit ... hmmmm ... Sunday night show, followed by a nine-hour drive and work the next morning at 8 AM ... it's a no-brainer! Is this in a newer building, or do they still have a coffeehouse beneath Quad?
  14. I spend all my time here. I wouldn't know.
  15. This place is just too warm and fuzzy. I'm quitting the board.
