  1. Never could take Jeff Buckley's voice. I suppose it's an acquired taste. Some of my favorites... Ken Stringfellow Ryan Adams (when he's "on") David Crosby Neil Finn Neko Case Gary Louris Ted Leo Ron Sexsmith Grant Lee Phillips
  2. Been listening to it for a while via the magic of leaked downloads. Sounds good -- I'll likely be buying a copy. I get a little tired of her repetitiveness in some of her songs, but the rest of it's so good that I always forgive her for that.
  3. Yeah, my first reaction was: I suppose the later rounds of announcements could spark some interest, but as it stands I'm not all that impressed. Plus, there's that whole I-hate-festivals thing...
  4. I always recommend Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson, regardless who's asking and why. That's a hell of a fun read. It'll probably show up in the Sci-Fi section at most bookstores, but it's so much more than a "genre" book. Plus, the technology and times are starting to catch up to those envisioned in the book, adding an extra level of surreality.
  5. Fuck Peter Green Fuck Paul Butterfield Fuck John Mayall Fuck Charlie Musselwhite While we're at it, Fuck Elvis Presley. ...right? 'Cause that's what I'm hearing. Carlin's funny, but that doesn't mean he's right about everything.
  6. Now I want to hear "Peanut Butter" by The Marathons. What a great tune that is. C'mon now, take a lesson now! Open up your jar now! Spread it on your cracker now! SCARF NOW!
  7. The same was probably true for Clapton, though I really couldn't care less about that guy these days.
  8. Leaked. Oinkable. Care to clue us in to what it is? I'm not good at reading album covers with no lettering.
  9. I haven't paid much attention to the Chili Peppers in recent years, but I was watching Frusciante during the Grammys and his guitar work just blew me away. His rhythm lines are more intricate than most people's leads. His fingers are flying all the time, and yet he somehow makes it look easy. He's also a very creative writer, judging from his contributions to the big RHCP singles in recent years. Seriously, is there anything better than that repeated line he plays through "Scar Tissue"? He really has become one of the greats, in my opinion.
  10. ^^ That's next. Never heard it before ... just downloaded it last night. I'm not absolutely in love with the new Ted Leo ... yet. Sounds really solid the first time through, though -- I think it'll be a grower.
  11. Shit, is this a new album? I can't find it on any of the sites.
  12. Let us know your brother's screen name, so that we may properly mock him.
  13. I'd say the Doors were both good and original. I just don't like their stuff all that much.
  14. linky Wait, sorry. I thought you said "pageophile."
  15. I might pay it if it put me in the first seven or eight rows. Otherwise, no way.
  16. What I hate more than anything is when a song is re-written to fawn over the product being advertised. If you want to use the song, fine -- just don't fuck with the lyrics. If you want a jingle for your product, write one.
