I decided to shut down
-
You're clearly not listening to The Tyranny of Distance correctly. Go back and listen again, and this time turn down the volume on Oprah while doing so.
-
Now, let's be fair. Only one of them was on the take.

Here in Ann Arbor, we spend the winters improving our minds ... because the Wolverines suck at basketball.
-
There's a reason why they're called "batting practice" caps.
-
I can certainly agree with that. Ted is probably at his best with faster tempos ... they certainly seem to kick his guitar playing up a notch.
-
I never said it was one of the best records so far this year, but I do like it. It doesn't come close to Tyranny, but it's a solid effort.
-
I don't mind "A Bottle of Buckie," nor do I mind the length of this album.

I doubt those old cheap-ass helmets from the '70s could provide protection against a tennis ball. We found one in the house we moved into in '77 ... I think it was an A's helmet, but I really don't recall.
-
Since when did baseball players need different caps for batting practice? Oh. Since MLB figured out they could sell more caps that way. I see. Wait. Don't they wear helmets during batting practice?
-
Yeah, I thought he sucked as a villain. What a whiny piece of shit ... probably the worst character of last season. I'm not at all pleased that he will be back.

Interesting.

Are you referring to that Waterboys album? This version, by chance? I might have to take a look at that myself.
-
clicky Personally I find that LSD works better for this, but satire helps too.

It's not safe, but that hasn't stopped me from using it. It's kind of like crack after a while. That said, I've cut way back in the last couple of months, and at some point I hope to just stop it altogether, except maybe for leaks that I really want to hear. My problem is that I'm usually seeding a couple dozen torrents or more, and they're probably more likely to go after people for their upload volume than their download volume.

Mine too.

I take it that's new? Loved her last couple ... I'll have to check this one out too.

Turntables do need some kind of preamp ... some have them built in. If yours doesn't, you'll probably want to run it into a stereo receiver (or a boombox with a phono input, or whatever). It's important to use an input that's specifically for phono, because that's designed to handle the signal from a turntable. Or you could buy an inexpensive preamp ... talk to the Radio Shack folks and see what they can suggest. I bought a no-frills one there a few years back for something like $20. Most of what I just said above is based only on years of amateur dorking with turntables and may be complete

A-man, listen to Sound Affects sometime. Might not be your thing, but there's some great stuff on there. The first Jam album I ever loved.

In the early days, "Sam Beam solo" and "Iron & Wine" were the same thing.

Brian May pretty much rules. This is true.

I thought I heard that Ian Astbury decided not to be the fake Jim Morrison any more. Now maybe he'll want to be the fake Paul Weller?
