  1. For best results, post this in this thread.
  2. Those were both worthwhile. Thanks for posting.
  3. That's a great version. It lacks the loopy keyboards they've added more recently, which I loathe. The singalong last night was kinda lame, I gotta say. I mean, it's cool that everyone knows the words, but damn, Jeff, just sing it yerself. Maybe throw it over to us for the "Our love..." part, but otherwise, that song's all yours. (Please.)
  4. Absolutely. This was another highlight -- I think this is the best Wilco song since YHF, and it did not disappoint live.
  5. Interesting how perspectives on a show can be so different. Of all the Wilco shows I've seen, to my mind this was the weakest. The set list looks good on paper, but I wasn't feeling the flow, if you know what I mean. Just seemed scattershot somehow. And nothing from Summerteeth. But more than the setlist, the band just wasn't on at times. There were a couple of tunes where part of the band was half a beat out of step with the rest, at least initially, and it took surprisingly long for everyone to fall back into rhythm. I'm accustomed to Wilco being rock-solid and tight as hell, and last
  6. It doesn't matter what the band wants. The balcony clearly was a seated area last night. Your litany of excuses isn't gaining any traction. As someone mentioned earlier, people often sit in the balcony because they don't want to have to stand down on the main floor. In refusing to accede to multiple, reasonable requests from security to sit down, you announced that you believed you were more important than anyone else in the balcony. Be glad you got thrown out by security before someone seated behind you threw you over the railing. I'd have considered it myself, had I been stuck behind yo
  7. Not me. This Year's Model is probably my favorite of his, and possibly in my top ten albums of all time.
  8. I don't care for Scully, actually. That said, he really is better than virtually any other sports broadcaster out there ... which to me is a disturbing comment on the sad state of the profession.
  9. Just caught this online ... what the hell? Why does this family have an "experimental balloon-powered aircraft" in the first place? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33330516/ns/us_news-life/ Deputies chase boy floating in balloon aircraft Cops: 6-year-old takes off in family's experimental helium-balloon craft NBC, msnbc.com and news services updated 15 minutes ago FORT COLLINS. Colo. - Authorities were trying to determine Thursday how to safely bring down a 6-year-old boy who reportedly clambered into his family's experimental balloon-powered aircraft and floated away from home, sheriff'
  10. I thought of transitive verb because it requires a subject and doesn't stand on its own.
  11. "transitive verb" comes to mind, but this isn't the typical usage of one. In the U.K. this is everyday speech. I suppose it might be pretentious in the U.S., but not there.
  12. The album was released in June 1990, if you believe Wikipedia. I graduated from college in 1990 and I swear someone gave me a cassette of that album before I graduated, but it might have been that fall when I went back to visit. Considering who gave it to me, though, it's possible that I had a cassette of the album before it was released (it came from an über-fan who went to school in St. Louis and had been following those guys for quite a while).
  13. Interesting, considering that everything I've read says it was recorded in January 1990. Unless you're counting their self-released cassette as their "debut album."
  14. So let me get this right ... their best stuff was from before they recorded their debut album?
  15. A few bands from off the beaten path: Posies Red House Painters Spinanes Come All had stellar '90s catalogs, though they were hardly most prolific bands of the decade.
  16. Not quite, but if we make it to June without a new one, it will be.
  17. I was wondering if anyone would start a thread.
  18. Every time I listen to this I'm struck by what an amazing talent this guy was.
  19. I'd say "it's about damn time" except that damn time came and went a few years ago. If it doesn't release until next year she can call it The Seven-Year Itch.
  20. Am I reading that right? Does it suggest that a new Gillian Welch album is in the works? (Finally?)
  21. Touché. But before you go to press, please do me the honor of un-capitalizing my screen name.
  22. Not sure who you're referring to, but it ain't me. And I'm not sure I see value in being an unquestioning fanboy.
  23. That's what I love about the internets. Let's completely miss someone's point and then criticize him for it.
