  1. It's a meaningless game with only a week left in the season -- why not play it. Make-up games are kind of hard to schedule this late in the year.
  2. I'm not quite sure what that means, but your Mom sounds a lot like my Mom. And my Mom was pretty cool.
  3. Love the Zep. Always have. Maybe always will. My best Zep memory is a roadtrip with buddies to Cape Cod around 1985...hanging out in some dude's house one night, Zep on the stereo, getting stoned... Another was the first time I heard The Ocean...it was really late one night and I was driving solo down some deserted back roads in Connecticut...Ocean comes on the radio, and I cranked it when I heard the opening riff...and found myself doing like 65 mph down some twisty highway by the time the song was done. Good times.
  4. I'm not sure if I like this new "full-disclosure" NASA any better than the cocky super-confident NASA we used to have.
  5. On the one hand, success with these games is a predictor for certain types of skills that can be valuable in combat. On the other hand, it kind of takes the whole honor/duty/country concept out of the equation.
  6. Sorry, the black and orange music site thing has been done already.
  7. Despite all my issues with the iPod, I really like iTunes. It works well for me.
  8. That's mostly what I use it for, edging.
  9. I have one of these. They should have named it "Linehog", because this machine goes through trimmer line faster than Paris Hilton going through a case of Trojans.
  10. Same here. I wore out the grooves on the Stevie Ray Vaughan solos for "China Girl" and "Criminal World".
  11. Sorry if I shocked anyone -- I probably shouldn't have just tossed that out there like that. I'm still a little shocked myself. Viatroy, good luck with the quitting. I wish I could offer some better advice but I never got on the cigs myself (probably because of my Mom).
  12. If you were able to go cold turkey painlessly before, why not now? My Mom fought her addiction to cigarettes for 5 decades. She died of cancer this week.
  13. "Doctor" Jeff Brantley on BB Tonight was speculating a torn ligament, with an 18-24 month recovery.
  14. It wasn't among my favorites when I first got into Summerteeth, but it's grown on me over time, now it's probably one of my top 5 all time Wilco songs.
  15. I'm just a New York hater. I'd watch Rays/Marlins. I would love to see a White Sox-Cubs series.
  16. Is it just coincidence that the GMC logo looks so much like the GNC logo?
  17. I use this. The cassette adapter plugs into the body.
  18. Some things I would change about the iPod: - Add a dedicated volume control. Using the clickwheel for so many functions might be considered elegant design, but it sucks when you want to change the volume while buried deep in a menu. - Dedicated "next" and "previous" buttons instead of the clickwheel. Again, too many functions on a single control hampers usability. - Add some kind of rapid "paging" feature to the clickwheel. It takes too many spins to get through a multi-thousand-song listing. - I know it's too late for this one, but I wish Apple had used industry-standard connectors
  19. Good theory, except for the "secret plot" to work, foreknowledge of it would have to be limited to those at the highest levels.
  20. Yep, just checked it out on the home laptop. My work monitor must be set too dark. Nice shot.
  21. I can't see anything in the first picture -- is my monitor going bad?
  22. NPR has a Calexico concert for download on their All Songs Considered site -- I listened to it on my way up to Connecticut a couple of weeks ago. It was my first time hearing the band but I think I liked it.
  23. People seem a little on edge today. Not just here, but in several online communities that I frequent.
