Rolling Stone's 40 Songs That Changed The World
c53x12 replied to cryptique's topic in Someone Else's Song
It's a good list, but I think the world is still pretty much the same as it was around the time "Fell In Love With A Girl" came out. -
Great episode last night. Awesome internal struggle with Tony contemplating whacking Paulie on the boat, and Paulie completely aware of his intentions. Phil consolidating power after his "no more of this sh*t" warning last week. The parallel storyline between Tony-Paulie and Uncle Junior-Carter.

Hammond's Imus impression was scarily accurate, but the bit suffered from poor writing as usual. Somebody please shoot Seth Meyer, he is completely worthless. Alec Baldwin is one of the funniest people on all of NBC these days. I swear I thought Shia Laboeuf was one of the daughters from the Cosby show.

Meriweather in '05 was the only live Wilco show I've seen. The band sounded great. I was in the pavilion. I didn't like the venue all that much, though -- it was kind of like a dirty Six Flags park with really overpriced beer. But right now it looks like my closest option, so I might return.

But they haven't yet, hence the Marlins' early runs lead.

They started the season with a series against the Nationals. Just saying.

OMG, did the Mets put the hurt on the Phillies bullpen today or what? 8 runs in two innings to win their home opener. New York's got a new Murderer's Row.

It wasn't one of my favorite episodes -- it seemed to drag in a few spots, esp. the scenes between Janice and Carmela. But I enjoyed how the tension kept building through the Monopoly scene, with all the alcohol flowing, and Tony snitching cash from the bank and provoking Janice and Bobby. There's nothing funnier than when Tony keeps picking at somebody's scabs like that. I was pretty disappointed in the Entourage premiere -- the party scene, after all that buildup, was kind of pointless and anticlimactic, except for the intrigue of Ari and the Medellin script. I still love Johnny Drama,

It looks staged to me. -
I watched my TiVo recording of Son Volt on Conan from the other night. Overall I liked the song. The horns added a lot of presence to the band's sound. It was almost like a mariachi kind of sound. Jay's voice sounded a little shaky, though.

Who is Michael Hampton, and why does he hate America? -
I've read a lot of reviews of the Lumix cams, and the overall impression I was left with was "great lenses, average image processor." The Canons seem to routinely beat the Lumix models.

Cars was the only movie nominated in a major category this year that I saw. And I've seen it 3 times now (1x in the cinema, 2x on DVD). I love it. The Incredibles was better, but Cars was still better than anything Disney (pre-Pixar buyout) has produced in the last 20 years.

That they hate America? Actually, it means at least 10 minutes of material for Colbert's next show. -

I watched it. He can carry a tune, and plays a nice little blues riff, but I didn't see anything remarkable there. Certainly nothing that would qualify as "guitar godhood".

I haven't heard any of these songs.

Lowlights for me: - Mary Blige thanking the entire population of L.A. - Missing the Police song because I tuned in 5 minutes late -- whatever happened to buildup? - Extreme closeups of Natalie Maines in high definition - wear much makeup? Highlights: - Shakira! Shakira! Her hips do, indeed, not lie. - Um, that was about it. I missed the setup, but what were the criteria by which people were voting for the three girls who could sing with Justin Timberlake? Did they actually air auditions by these girls? As far as I could tell, it was just based on their looks. On that basis, I voted in m

He's still got it.

True, or if they just quietly remove the items without it becoming a media circus, they don't look stupid.

I could easily second this. Or maybe Van Morrison's "Into The Mystic" just for the goosebumps I get when the horns play.

When was the last time you listened to a Wilco album start to finish?

Probably Kicking Television when it came out, what, a year ago? I listened through Uncle Tupelo's Anodyne in the car last week while making a long road trip, but that record is new to me.
