This thread has turned more into a list of musical grievances, but that's cool, I'm down. I don't understand (actually I despise) the use of the term "prog" or "progressive" to describe music that features alot of technical musicianship/odd time signatures/syncopated stuff etc. OK, it was definitely progressive when Yes did it. Now its just boring and played out. And Dream Theater sucks. So does Mahavishnu Orchestra. AC/DC is unlistenable. The Band was better than The Beatles.

I might add, that I love Ani DiFranco. Love her. As a music devotee and musician, her music surely changed my life.

Clapton should have quit music after Blind Faith. I'm not crazy about My Morning Jacket. Good live band, but I can't make it through an album.

I never really heard of The Magnetic Fields until about two weeks ago, when my favorite college radio station began jocking them, and I must say, I don't think they are very good.

Most Americans don't have the attention span for hockey. I didn't until I started going to AHL games. Seeing it live opened the doors for me.

14 years ago I was ten. I used to record songs off the radio to make mix tapes. Whatever was popular on 'alternative' rock radio at the time was on my tapes. Meat Puppets, Soul Asylum and White Zombie made appearances.

I took my dad to Wilco's recent show in Philly. He loved it. Although my dad is 53 and he grew up with good rock and roll, so its not surprising he'd like Wilco.

Right. My 2 are Metallica and Pantera. They helped define about 1/3 of my life.

I had a chance to see them in Philly a few weeks ago, but I didn't. Sorry, that's all I got. Check em out online, they sound pretty interesting.

Damn son, Sub Pop be churning out the goods lately! Actually, I'd recommend Sera Cahoone to all you VC'ers. Some nice country-flavored tunes that will break yer frigging heart. In the best way possibly, of course. Now if May 6th could get here so I can get my hands on the new No Age...
