  1. I saw Joe open for Ani DiFranco back in 2004. He played solo and it was an awesome set.
  2. Not to mention doing each with stunning precision and clarity. That is why they are the greatest rock and roll band around.
  3. Found that on vinyl for like $5 in Bloomington, Indiana. And its in damn near mint condition.
  4. Ditto. I like pretty much everything else.
  5. I have to add jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell.
  6. As I was listening to the Moondance album today very loudly, I noticed how much I really love both the electric and acoustic guitar tones on that record.
  7. I find it funny that they listed Robbie Robertson as an influence as opposed to the Band. That actually scares me.
  8. Wait, so we're being sarcastic here? I actually do like Natalie Merchant.
  9. Yes. A combination of applied knowledge and experimentation is what I would recommend. Like, put your hand in the shape of a chord you are familiar with, and try to raise or lower certain notes within the chord and see what you can find that sounds good.
  10. (I am fully aware that this is sort of lame, trying to sell gear on this message board, but I need to get rid of this stuff and it would be awesome if anyone here could help me out. I would understand if the mods were to close this thread as I know this forum is not for selling gear.) I'm moving a cross the country and moving in with my aunt and uncle. My space is limited in their home so I need to consolidate my gear. I have a good amount of mid-grade instruments (not generic junk, but not overly superb either) that are all in really decent condition, ie they are in working order and the
  11. Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, to name a few...
  12. Who are the Cornrow-Bushlickers? I love Natalie Merchant, by the way.
  13. Don't miss Levon & crew. Its one hell of a show.
  14. I think that's supposed to say Jonah Smith. Who is kickass, by the way. Check him out
  15. I was lucky enough to have Levon and his band come to Philly in February and the show cost $20. That's not to say its anything like being in the guy's house in an intimate environment, but it was satisfying to see Levon in the flesh at all considering he survived cancer. And it was a kick ass show.
  16. Yeah, I actually would have considered taking the 2 1/2 hour drive if tickets were still $100 (Its pretty close for me). But at $200, its a little steep.
  17. $200 these days. They raised the price if I'm not mistaken.
  18. That is a wicked cool cover. Just got this today. Seems pretty cool at first glance, needs more investigation. I'm sure it will reveal a great listen.
  19. I'm currently addicted to the album, and picked up this one recently. Great stuff.
  20. VLC plays flac? Why am I just now finding out about this? WOO HOO!
  21. Agreed. I might add that I don't care how fast or technically sound Nels' plying is; he plays with tons of feeling and emotion. That is what I identify with in music. If there wasn't any feeling I wouldn't give a crap.
  22. Jay Bennett Daytrotter Interview Daytrotter Session mp3s I found this interview with Jay and there's a link to some recordings he did for Daytrotter. While you're there, check out their archives because they've got lots of awesome sessions archived.
