The only song that loses any value in the live setting for me is "I'm The Man Who Loves You." The tempo gets all sped up and its way too mechanical and electric in a live setting. Whereas on the record it has a nice mid-tempo pace and it feels very laid back all around, especially with the acoustic guitar.

I'm a little late with this one. Amazing show. First time seeing them live and they kicked my ass. Actually, it was really my 2nd or 3rd time even hearing them, so I don't really have a setlist. I don't own any of their stuff outside of Sam's self-titled disc. So, yeah, great show and I can't wait until they come back around. On a related Chicago note, I have Tortoise on July 6th to look forward to. And Pelican on July 26th.

I wish I could see it that way, but I can't. I look at the whole Vito thing as prime evidence of a lack of original or even good ideas. It could have been resolved in 1 or 2 episodes, but they milked it to death, then even after the guy is whacked we have to deal with his son, then constant references to Vito all the way until the end, when it wasn't that great of a plot twist to begin with. I know its foolish to say such things, but long gone was the powerful and emotional writing of the third and fourth seasons. My best friend and fellow Soprano-fan had a long conversation last night after the "finale." We both agree the sixth season was a total disgrace to the wonderful legacy of the show, though I didn't hate last night's episode as much as many seem to. My friend and myself came to a realization about the last season: there were no characters introduced that you really cared about. It better be. They need to redeem themselves after the garbage they've been feeding us since last March. I'm not one who needs constant violence (I really liked season 4), but with the the general lack of good ideas in the scripts the last 15 or so episodes and the general clumsiness/idiocy of some of the dialogue as well, all that's left to keep my interest is violence. So let's have ourselves a bloodbath.
