  1. The best thing to say about AM is that it is chronologically WAY ahead of Wilco (the Album).
  2. That song has also become my favorite from that album, and one of my favorite songs from this year.
  3. I prefer the album except for when I'm at a show, in that case I prefer they play those songs live rather than spin the CD over the sound system.
  4. I liked the Chris Farley Show http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/14413/
  5. Anyone want to be the back end of my Wilco camel costume?
  6. To me, I have a Flaming Lips comparison I can't get rid of. It's Wilco's At War with the Mystics to me: very catchy, very Wilco-esque (to the FLips-esque At War...), but maybe a little too polished or too forced or too something that makes me want to listen to a different album by the same band. Also, both have embarrassing pop culture references! So I'm hoping Jeff pays attention to Embryonic and goes out on a limb that only his band can pull off.
  7. I've had the CD in my car since I bought it on release, and pretty much whenever it rains I put it on to laugh at the first line and then immediately I fall into the mood of it.
  8. I have always perceived Dave as a dirty old man. Often his interviews with actresses creep me out. So this doesn't really change my view of him. He was hilarious last night.
  9. Where is William Shatner's 'Has Been'? They gave it a 7.5!
  10. Quite a few of my favorite bands o' the decade didn't show up, but I don't blame Pitchfork, I blame the nonsense that is ranking albums like this, which Pitchfork makes its name by, so I do blame Pitchfork. But seriously, no Grandaddy?
  11. A coalition of late night talk show hosts have all signed a petition to have Letterman imprisoned.
  12. Chants?? We would have given anything for chants! We were lucky to hear crows cawing back in 450AD.
  13. On the lighter side, Steve Martin's Celebrity Crime Perks.
  14. 44 year old man gives 13 year old girl champagne and sedatives, then sodomizes her against her will. Youthful error!
  15. It was clearly stated it would stay up until this past monday. backstage wayne coyne versus Deerhunter (hoofy?) guy is pretty funny http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/250223/september-22-2009/exclusive---backstage-with-the-flaming-lips-and-deerhunter
  16. I use to work at a box office that used ticketweb online, but I also rubbed shoulders with those manning phones in a box office where ticketmaster ran the show, and I'd like to add to what's already been said about their fleecing ways that their "best available" seat that they sell you is a lie. they don't only keep the best seats in shady scalping deals, their system purposefully doesn't give you the best of what actually is available, probably to make last minute buyers more enticed by the seat they didn't sell you, but I also like to think it's for a laugh.
  17. I've never heard anyone say "Helter-Skelter" is proto-punk. I mean the high pitched "Look oooouut! helter-skelter!!!" toward the end of the song sounds like Paul pretending to be the singer of a metal band.
  18. "Gimme Shelter" will be out on bluray in December from Criterion.
  19. I have "London Calling" on a single disc, sold as one CD. Double albums are more about artistic intent, as is any album now in the digital age since they can be bought song by song. I think it's cool that the Lips are giving the option of a regularly priced CD.
