  1. Anyone see Chris Simon's cheap shot last night? Unbelievable!! He's gotta get like a 30 day suspension at least! It would be really hard for the Pens to not take the KC deal. I hope they stay in Pittsburgh though. They have a solid fan base there, attendance near the top of the league, and strong tv ratings. If they do take the deal, it would be just like the Browns leaving Cleveland for Baltimore. KC and Portland are deserving of teams. Hopefully some of the teams struggling with fan support will consider moving...
  2. I haven't heard Righteously in some time, but I remember really enjoying her phrasing on it. This kind of reminds me of defending Bob back in 90 for writing Wiggle Wiggle. What's Bob doing writing a song of complete nonsense...blah blah blah. It was actually one of the better songs live during the next 1 1/2 years. It always got the place jumping! West reminds me a little of Time Out Of Mind...Lu went in a different direction like Bob did. I could see the line 'if the flesh falls off my face, I know someone will be there to care' somewhere on this disc. I can't wait to see her again...
  3. I love it!!! Hearing her voice, over Tony's phat bass and Keltner's steady drumming, is like being in heaven.
  4. Bob Links shows Dylan as playing Bonnaroo this year too...
  5. Bob's To Be Alone With You from Nashville Skyline...
  6. I just transferred 9/2/68 from dat to cd...killer Dark Star!! They played it kind of fast in '68
  7. I think they have commentary on the new material as well...
  8. I LOVE Portland!!! I went out there in October for Bob and had a great time. The best beers in the world. My favorite being BridgePort IPA. I went back out in November for Lee "Scratch" Perry at the Crystal Ballroom. That place was incredible! I spent most of my time around the Hawthorne District. Can't wait to go back! Maybe for Neko and Merle next month!
  9. I LOVE Patti Smith!!! I first saw her open for Bob at the Electric Factory in Philly in 1995. She was so amazing, so passionate. I saw her again in 04 on the Trampin tour. Go see her live if you have the chance. She's so inspiring I'm sure you'll end up wanting to join her revolution!
  10. I can't believe McGwire wasn't elected! Big Mac hit 70 homers in one season!
  11. Wow...so many but here are a few... The Stones Their Satanic Majesties mono w/ 3D cover Coltrane's Atlantic box set all the Lee Scratch Perry Trojan reissues any Jamaican LP or 45, esp Perry's various labels
  12. I was there Saturday night...stayed home Friday to watch the Cardinals win the World Series. Some of his songs are delivered differently from when they were recorded. You can't expect him to feel the exact same level of energy and emotion he had when he recorded something every time he plays it. A song like 4th Street is now sung with a hint of regret. I find that refreshing. It challenges everyone in the band, his long time fans, and Bob himself. I saw Masters of War in Portland a few weeks ago and enjoyed it very much. A song like that with such amazing lyrics and relevance, much like Hattie
  13. Whoa...that sucked! Thru the muck though I heard the sound of a familiar guitar...anybody know if JJ Jackson's playing on that? Bob has nothing to do with the SF press conf dvd. It's another one of the half dozen subpar Dylan dvd's that have hit the market recently. I'll get this one though...absolutely hilarious!
  14. I just got back from the Portland show and it was one of the best shows I've seen Bob give in a long time. This band is now on fire...it took a little while for that to happen...maybe the experience of being in the studio and being part of the birth of a masterpiece helped. My first visit to Oregon and I have to say it may be my favorite place in the states (love Louisiana and So Cal too). The crowd was so into the show that it really enhanced it. Everyone I met there, both at the show and throughout the 5 days, were cool, friendly and funny. Chicago may be a different story. The crowd at m
  15. LOL! He was on all the stages down at the New Orleans Jazz Fest too!
  16. Hopefully there are tapers at most of these shows. I looked around last Saturday in StL and didn't see any other tapers, but you never know. We had local legend, , Beatle Bob as the mc, and he drew some boos from the crowd . Too funny! It was a great show!

I don't think Sleepy John wrote this song. I pulled a couple cd's and an lp with Sleepy doing this song and he does not take credit for it. Some of the other songs had Sleepy as the author or trad. arranged by Sleepy, but neither was noted on this song each time. Bob def. borrows from Sleepy's version though. Bob's mind is like the whole world's public library. I seriously doubt he had Timrod's work in front of him. He may have had those words in his head for 45 years and it just so happened that recalled them this year.
