  1. Sorry, I'm (very) late to the party again.
  2. How can he miss Vancouver? Crap! (I know that it's ridiculous to whine, but still!)
  3. Sorry, I'm late to the . Hope you had a great day, Dunja!
  4. At least you can say that you supported your best and brightest. Your mom should watch this doc and perhaps she will change her mind about the Bush thing. I'm a big believer in the so-called "third party" idea. I almost always vote for the NDP (the closest thing we have to Ralph up here). Although they have a snowball's chance in hell of forming the govt., they often win a few seats in Parliament and keep the Conservatives and/or the Liberals on a tighter leash. The only reason we have universal health care in Canada is because the Liberals adopted the idea from the CCF/NDP under Tommy D
  5. I'll admit that I probably would have voted for Ralph Nader (instead of Kang or Kodos) if I was an American. *ducks* The outtakes on the DVD are excellent. I particularly enjoyed the psyc profiling of Nader.
  6. Or just wishful thinking on someone's part.
  7. It's Johnny's birthday It's Johnny's birthday And we would like to wish him all the very best!
  8. I loved the triple caffeinated pop ecstasy of MR and EV, but I'm glad they're not making those albums over and over. I definitely hear a little ELO in Challengers. It's a grower, I think. As for Neko's voice on NP albums, I remember reading that Carl Newman told her to sing "Letter From an Occupant" like a robot. The real question is, will Carl be able to get FACTOR grants now that he has moved to the States? (Boo!)
  9. Carla Bozulich once remarked that she loves Wilco because "you can pretend the songs are about you." With perfect comic timing, a guy in the audience replied, "Why is Jeff Tweedy so mad at me?"
  10. I've always wanted to see a show at Massey Hall. Judging by the Neil Young album, the acoustics are amazing.
  11. Wish I could be in LA tonight to celebrate with you. Come back to Vancouver for some beer batter halibut and chips soon... I promise that you'll see those mountains someday!
  12. It's a good one. I'm pretty sure I saw the guy who wrote this review for the Stranger. He certainly looked smitten with the band, smiling like a lunatic while snapping away. I know that feeling.
  13. He tells such great stories, yet reveals very little about himself, keeping the mystique alive. I would expect no less from Bob Dylan.
  14. I love Neil, but he's driving me crazy!
  15. May the friendship, laughter, and love that you inspire come back to you tenfold.
  16. Odds and ends: Nels is recovering nicely. Very nicely! Jeff was uncharacteristically silent about the crappy clapping we did during Spiders. (Sorry!) Maybe the Vancouver audience was too stoned? If Jeff really did hike the Grouse Grind, I am impressed! That's like climbing up the CN Tower one and a half times. Every few years or so, a tourist in flip flops wanders off in the North Shore mountains and falls off a cliff or gets eaten by a cougar or something. A guy even died on the Grind one snowy winter and they had to close it. It's serious wilderness back there!
