Thank you to everyone. The job is in Santa Monica. All of my good friends growing up have moved to California -- WeHo, Ventura and Santa Monica. This would get me out there with them, which I've been wanting to do for a long time. I'll keep everyone posted.

I recently submitted my resume for a really cool job in California. I just heard back today that they are very pleased with my (lack of ) credentials and will be contacting me very shortly. A little vibe actions should hopefully bring me some luck.

High-definition streaming would be awesome. I got an up-converting DVD player, which will scale a normal DVD to the resolution of HD-DVD. That was a good buy.

This is just ridiculous. Greed, bad business; call it what you want. I really feel like they're hearing the death cry and reaching for anything they can to save their asses. Maybe Sony should consider spending their money on a revamped business plan, not litigation for outrageous, senseless bullshit. This is, afterall, the company who installed spyware on all of their users computers. It's gonna be funny when the Playstation 3 and Blu-Ray both fail.

It's Sony's technology and they own the rights to it, so they can (not) do with it whatever they please.

Blu-Ray, like betamax, uses (I think) some proprietary technology that makes it far more expensive to use than HD-DVD. Additionally, Sony said that no porn could use Blu-Ray, which is apparently where A LOT of DVD sales come from.

I'd like to try it sometime. What's an average setup cost and how long does it take to brew?

Note to the RIAA: WAKE UP! Times are changing and you should too. It's like trying to sell horse trailers outside of an automobile plant. With the advent of home studios and savvy independent labels, big record companies need to serve only as a distribution channel. No more million-dollar studio bills, etc. No more fucking the artist by paying them $.50 per record. If I were the RIAA, I'd probably be upset too. When I was in high school, we had a big marquee that was about 15 feet tall. It stood out in front of the school, in plain sight of a very major road that ran in front of the school. This was the type of marquee where you could slide the big plastic letters on it to spell....anything you wanted. I can't recall exactly what the sign originally said, but it contained the words "Tennis" "State" and "Soccer" along with some other dates and words. However, I clearly recall having one of my friends stand on myself and another friend's shoulders and rearrange the letters. This took some time. T

Ginandcigarettes (or James) -- fantastic write-up. What pedal are you using to achieve your AC30 tone? When I've done recordings I've been using some pretty tweaked Amplitube settings to get that great Vox sound, but would love a live solution. EDIT: I want a telecaster.
