I think your safe, according the Judas Priest website, Whitesnake is not on the bill. I made the mistake of going to the Whitesnake.com website---I think it has to be the worst website ever, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I have have to admit I saw Whitesnake, with Faster Pussycat opening, at Popular Creek in the late 80's sometime. At least Steve Vai was with them at the time.

Is Whitesnake on the bill at Indy? I believe Whitesnake will be playing with them up here in Chicago. Seems like an odd pairing and a different fan base (perhaps that's the point). Sad Wings, Sin after Sin, Stained Glass, and Unleashed in the East were always my favorite. British Steel and beyond they kinda lost me. Of course I started to listened them (through MTV and radio, mostly) in the early/mid 80's, but I always liked there older stuff better.

I did not have a problem nor did I see anyone else having issues. I did see one guy getting yanked, inside (but he looked liked he needed it).

I never heard Phil's Band version, but I have heard Ratdog play it and it sounded similar to Ratdog. It did plod along a bit, but I thought it sounded good. The house sound of the vocals were not the best; it hampered this song. I did like the China into Crossed-Eyed, a nice surprise. Built To Last was another one that did not do much for me, but Pride of Cucamonga was great.

It was a good show last night. The sound was a bit muddy where I was standing (on the floor right next to the soundboard). Warren was very high in the mix, at times too high. He drowned out pretty much everyone at times. At least he played well, though. For me the only clunkers were Standing on the Moon and Imagine. Neither of these two clicked for me. It was bit funny for me to get a Liberty, with the previous discussions a few days ago. I would have rather heard U.S. Blues, but Liberty was played well. I thought that was going to be the last song of the set, but they went into Watchtowe

Yeah, I don't think I would camp, unless I had no alternative. I haven't seen a show there since 94, so I don't know if things have changed over there or not. That is one of the reasons why I am in no particular hurry on getting to the lot today. But who knows, perhaps the lot scene will be fine...

I heard yesterday on the Grateful Dead Channel that Not Fade Away was on the paper setlist. Obviously Weir changed things around. I thought Saturday's show sounded good. I have been whistling School Girl since I got the 68 Road Trip's disk, so it was nice to hear it Saturday. At last Friday's Liverpool Show, Dylan played Something (Beatles). It was fun to hear Dead's take on Revolution the next night. Looking forward to tonight's show. Won't be able to make down there until 5pm or so. I hear Allstate is allowing overnight camping in the lot this year, that should be interesting. Also

After two listens I'm in the same boat. I definitely don't think it is crap, but thus far it's a bit boring. I not a big fan of the constant "vamp" that is running throughout If I Ever Go To Houston. I do like how it ends, as of now I like the last two songs the best. That being all said I glad we have a new Dylan record and I am looking forward to seeing him perform the new songs. I like US Blues too, especially opening a show with it. Don't think that happen too often with The Grateful Dead. On Lamberts and Gans' show Tales from the Golden Road on XM, they always talk about trying to track down the guys in the movie who were arguing about the the idea of a Grateful Dead movie and talk to them. I think it would also be fun to talk to the guy who was mouthing the US Blues from the movie, also. It cracks me up every time I watch it.

If I heard it correctly on the Grateful Dead XM channel, they will be broadcasting one of the Spectrum shows this Fri. or Sat. I just caught the last bit of the spot this afternoon. Can't find it anywhere on the web to confirm, though. Edit: David Gans posted this over on dead.net I got tickets for the 4th here in Chicago, so it will be nice to at least hear the show before the Chicago show.

Which Coltrane book?

For me those two releases are the best of the recent Road Trip/Rhino releases. The sound is great, esp. on the 68 show. That short Dark Star from Portland is great filler on Disk 1. It's a bummer it took so long to get to you.

I liked Beyond the Horizon on his last one. You're right though, his last great ballad's were back on Oh Mercy.

I always loved those interviews. Especially when I was a young kid reading them. Now I find those interviews funny, but back than I guess I thought he was like a junkie pirate. Seems like a odd theme for a song, but I am looking forward to hearing it.
