  1. I spent in month in Hawaii in the summer of 1982 - I remember being amazed that I could tune into the Loop and seeing so many Loop t-shirts worn by the locals. Doing some reading today, I guess it makes sense why the Loop was so popular there. Guessing it was popular everywhere. Of course growing up in Chicago, I knew it was a big deal - just thought it was a local thing, though. It was a lot of fun to listen to in the 80's
  2. That is cool - nice gift and party.
  3. My friend had a 22 and a shot gun. We would shoot targets and such. I did more watching than shooting. He was a few years older than me and in hind-sight we were always unsupervised - which may have not been wise, but we survived, as well as everyone and thing around us... He still is a big gun guy - don't think he ever leaves his house without one - I have never asked him if was a NRA member.
  4. I think they last time I shot a rifle was when I was 14.
  5. Yeah - my wife told me about the hunting angle, last night --- I should have stated, I didn't realize that one had to be 21 for a handgun -- I always figured it was 18 across the board.
  6. Up to last week or so, I never realized that one had to be 21 to buy a handgun, but 18 to buy a rifle-type gun. Seems a bit weird. It is great that businesses and some states are at least trying to curtail guns, while of course DC does nothing...
  7. Guess Tweedy should get a mention --- 'i'm serious'.
  8. I didn't think so -- guess they just monitor the copyright materials - which makes sense.
  9. No the non-official ones that work the shakedown.
  10. Yeah - my kid happens to need a new mitt and there is a Dick's near us - so it will work out nicely.
  11. Curious if you know if vendors pay the band for a licence or the municipality the show is in? Or do they pay anything at all.
  12. Just saw that Dick's Sporting Goods will stop selling assault rifles and have 21 and over gun buying policy -- pretty great news. Que up the NRA... I see that they stopped for short time after Sandy Hook, but started again. Of course they vow to stick with it, this time. Hopefully they do and other stores follow. From a NYT story. This is what this country needs: a change of mentality about guns... Mr. Stack said the retailer began scouring its purchase records shortly after the identity of the suspected Parkland shooter, Nikolas Cruz, became known. The company soon discovered it had le
  13. NRA using their puppets. Crazy to think that Georgia will risk loosing their largest employer over guns. Guessing Illinois would welcome Delta...
  14. Bruce Dickinson springs to mind. Not strictly a screamer - more or sustain holler --- he demands the crowd to do the screaming:"Scream for me..."
  15. At least he has his pilot license (at least I assume he does) -- that's more qualifications than many of his other nominees/appointments.
  16. Yeah - I enjoy Hot Tuna, but not as familiar with them as I am with the Airplane. Plus, I have always been a sucker for Grace. Spotify has a lot Hot Tuna shows that I listen to from time to time. Still have not seen them play yet, which I always plan to do when they come around, but end up not going for some reason or another.
  17. Only Jefferson Airplane related thread I saw was the RIP thread for Kantner. Looking forward to this book. Jorma is an interesting dude.
  18. That is exactly what the NRA lady was implying last night. Crazy thing is that some of the victims and the sheriff sharing the stage with her were supporting it. It just seems so ass backwards.
  19. Caught a bit of CNN town hall last night. Of course, NRA's answer is to fortify all schools. I guess I need to give Rubio credit for showing up - he definitely was in the hot seat. Tapper did a decent job of keeping everything in check - as well as the kids/adults asking the questions. The talk about fortifying schools from the victims and the NRA, rather than trying to curb guns, was unsettling, though. It shouldn't be discussion on the fortification of schools, but guns. My wife always likes to point out that our kids go outside for recess and gym -- how is one going to fortify a school's
  20. Definitely will grab this one, if it is still available -- friends of mine are going to the show - I won't be able to swing it. I'll shoot you a PM
  21. This reads like a a message from the NRA:
  22. Resignment is what the oppostion to gun control wants - I would say the oppostion greatly benifits with these shootings and are completely fine with it. The more these events occur the more people resign to the fact "oh well, a 'crazy' person is gonna kill if they want to --- they gonna find a gun - no matter what, anyways" - so they give up opposing the gun lobby. Like President Obama always likes to say - pertaining to how democratic societies work: They are like ocean liners: you turn the wheel slowly, and the big ship pivots. Gun control - like civil rights - is a huge issue. It took
  23. Would be cool see her at the Preston Bradly Hall - a beutiful place. Never realized the Cutural Center put on paid shows in the Hall. I have seen plenty of jazz shows there - but they were always free. Also, I have no idea who the above dude with VIle is.
