I hate questioning motives or "looking into people's souls" --- but a 'weekend dad' reason - come on!

Definitely miss watching Sale pitching in black - hopefully it will be his year to win the Cy Young.

Now reports that Paul Ryan won't seek another term in Congress. The R's sure seem to be in a mess.

MLB 2017 Started by Lammycat, 06 Apr 2017

At least it's a great routine -- always loved those licks.
-
The funny thing is that the White Sox played their home game today (same start time as the Cubs)--- though I wish they postponed it, too, since they lost again.
-
Today is opening day at Wrigley. Postponed until tomorrow. Today was suppose to be youngest's first t-ball practice, too. (once the weather gets nicer - we'll post in the 2018 thread -- also, Lammy was the one who bumped this thread -- dammit' Lammy...)

Guess you can throw on a Cecil Taylor tune on, too. Must admit, I have never heard of Helfer, before. Be interested if he has any thoughts on Taylor.
-
Hey now ----- he wasn't too bad yesterday. He is only doing 20 games this year. 19 to go.
-
Jeez - how the hell can they can make that mistake. Other news - the White Sox completely blew their home opener yesterday.
-
I got that one, too, from the library - haven't listened to it yet.

I listened to half of the Lavette's Things Have Changed last night - definitely a good one. Great, solid band. Mama You've Been on My Mind is a highlight. Below is a great, recent Rolling Stone interview -- she's a firecracker, for sure. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/bettye-lavette-talks-singing-bob-dylan-songs-bruno-mars-w518118

I only saw them once at a Lolla. Iggy decided to invite everybody up on stage. https://www.gettyimages.fi/photos/the-stooges-lollapalooza?family=editorial&phrase=the%20stooges%20lollapalooza&sort=mostpopular

Nice piece in the Atlantic. Only about 60 pages into Astral Weeks : A Secret History of 1968 - great read, thus far. Pretty heady times in Boston in '68. https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2018/04/behind-the-masterpiece-van-morrisons-astral-weeks-at-50/556472/

How was Friday's show? I had two friends go and they said they enjoyed it.
-
Have two tickets (GA-Floor) for tonight's Chicago gig - have to leave town, though. If anybody is interested, please shoot me a PM. Bummed that we have to miss it.

Great opening day --- Shields actually settled down and the White Sox hit 6 homers --- Don't stop now, boys! (Yeah, it's a lame expression, but whatever.) The below is pretty cool -- his first opening day start, too. Two others hit 3 homers on opening day, but they did it in April. Go White Sox!
-
Go figure - Shields gives up 4 runs in the 1st... Go White Sox!
-
James Shields pitching opening day for the White Sox - oh the humanity!!!! I think the Sox will end up in 3rd this year. Go White Sox!
-
This looks interesting - don't remember any of this happening at all.
-
We enjoyed Lucky, too. Interesting characters, throughout. Regarding Black Panther - I thought it was pretty awesome. It was my first superhero movie that I have seen, so I have nothing to compare it to, though. My wife and kid enjoyed it, too.

For some reason I remember having an apple discussion -- just had a Kiku - don't think I had one before, tasty as hell - definitely on the sweet spectrum.

Yeah plus below is how he got in by the below - gotta love with Cook County/Illinois political nepotism. As stated before, our local group was campaigning heavily for Newman -- must admit though she is not handling the loss very well - from a political standpoint, she is coming off a very bitter. She gets another chance in 2 years and she is already galvanizing his supporters...

I am happy with my US Rep - Robin Kelly. I am looking forward to see the outcome of the Dan Lipinski /Maria Newman primary result. Many in our local group have been campaigning hard for Newman. The race definitely seems to have gotten a lot of national press.
