  1. Great opening day --- Shields actually settled down and the White Sox hit 6 homers --- Don't stop now, boys! (Yeah, it's a lame expression, but whatever.) The below is pretty cool -- his first opening day start, too. Two others hit 3 homers on opening day, but they did it in April. Go White Sox!
  2. Go figure - Shields gives up 4 runs in the 1st... Go White Sox!
  3. James Shields pitching opening day for the White Sox - oh the humanity!!!! I think the Sox will end up in 3rd this year. Go White Sox!
  4. This looks interesting - don't remember any of this happening at all.
  5. We enjoyed Lucky, too. Interesting characters, throughout. Regarding Black Panther - I thought it was pretty awesome. It was my first superhero movie that I have seen, so I have nothing to compare it to, though. My wife and kid enjoyed it, too.
  6. For some reason I remember having an apple discussion -- just had a Kiku - don't think I had one before, tasty as hell - definitely on the sweet spectrum.
  7. Yeah plus below is how he got in by the below - gotta love with Cook County/Illinois political nepotism. As stated before, our local group was campaigning heavily for Newman -- must admit though she is not handling the loss very well - from a political standpoint, she is coming off a very bitter. She gets another chance in 2 years and she is already galvanizing his supporters...
  8. I am happy with my US Rep - Robin Kelly. I am looking forward to see the outcome of the Dan Lipinski /Maria Newman primary result. Many in our local group have been campaigning hard for Newman. The race definitely seems to have gotten a lot of national press.
  9. I haven't voted yet - but I think I am going with Biss. Honestly, I am not a huge fan of any of the candidates.
  10. Below is message from my kid's little league regarding my coaching eligibility - I think I may have more clearance than many in the Trump administration, now.
  11. Something light to read over spring break - hey Lammy???? Never heard of it - interesting publishing backstory, though. It seems that nothing ever comes easy for Russian writers..
  12. I am guessing Sessions would have been on the chopping block, if he didn't fire McGabe. Of course, I think Sessions won't last the month, either.
  13. Yeah - Chicago has pretty crap large scale venues --- I live 10 minutes from the World Music Theater - I went there for a show for the 1st time in over 20 years this past summer -- it sounded the same as it did back then.
  14. This was my 1st time seeing the band inside - I had seat even with stage - up high, stage left. A great prespetive on the drums. It was a fun show.
  15. Below is a SugerMegs' Stream link. Sound http://ia802706.us.archive.org/13/items/VanMorrison1970-04-26FillmoreWestSanFranciscoCA/VanMorrison1970-04-26FillmoreWestSanFranciscoCA.mp3?cnt=0 Setlist http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/asxcards/VanMorrison1970-04-26FillmoreWestSanFranciscoCA.html
  16. First time listening to this audience recording from 3/16/94. Rosemont sound sucks - but this recording is not that bad at all. Had a soundboard forever - but it always sounded real flat and lifeless. https://archive.org/details/gd1994-03-16.140065.fob-mk4.ebel.flac1644/19SugarMagnolia.flac
  17. We don't have that problem at our library -- not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing, though - anything to get kids to a library is a good thing - I say. Anyway, just put on the 73 show from the Rainbow in London.
  18. Yeah it is great - an awesome librarian is a great asset to any community. She is always picking great books for my kids, too. And yeah that expanded version is pricey -- that's why I always check it out from the library. I have had the original release for long while, but hearing the complete (at least I think they are complete) shows that the original are culled from is nice.
  19. Thanks to "Oil Can Boyd" for posting the below - finished it up last week - great, fun read. It's great that the author/illustrator had a "non-New Yorker who was living in New York City at the time" point of view. Just the right amount of snark throughout. Posted 02 January 2018 - 01:00 PM I can't tell you how much I am enjoying this book. It is part graphic novel but mostly an interesting personal history of New York City. It is funny and fascinating and informative.
  20. Good to know - my librarian put it in my hold pile - she figured it would be a book I would enjoy. I probably never would have came across it if she hadn't.
  21. They released an expanded edition of It's to Late Now to Stop Now recently. Definitely a classic. Last week, I listened to Wavelength and Into the Music - both great records. Also just picked up the below from the library, yesterday. Astral Weeks : A Secret History of 1968 - by Ryan H. Walsh
  22. Indeed, but Trump can't say on the stump that they won 'bigley' if Saccone loses ---- which would happen if somehow Saccone pulls it out.
  23. Nice win in PA for the Democrats, if it holds. The district voted solidly for Trump last election.
  24. Didn't you switch jobs recently, too? Sorry to hear this. Tomorrow, I am going to have job-phone interview for the 1st time in about 21 years - should be a hoot...
