  1. Yeah - i can hear some similarities rhythmically --- Gotta Serve Somebday came out a few years earlier. (Recorded May, 79) -- West LA first appeared in '82, I think. Both great tunes. Dylan has been playing Gotta Serve Somebody again recently - - he changed a bit of lyrics and completely changed it, rhythmically.
  2. Thanks for the above -- a nice read. I skipped the Dead/Dylan 2003 tour when it came to the Chicago area -- mostly because it was held down at the Joliet race track. I think the stage was blown down, the day prior to the gig. In hind site, I wish I would have went. Many of my friends went and enjoyed it.
  3. Yeah - I don't revisit doc's too often - so I know it will just sit on the shelf, plus I caught it when it as on Amazon. I'll wait until the bonus stuff is out there and watch it then. About a week until the Pacific box is released - definitely looking forward to that...
  4. Yeah - we watched Ozark, too --- thought it was great. It's shot nicely, too. Season 2 airs this Friday (8/31) - looking forward to it.
  5. Looks like Glen did play with them for a few songs a couple of nights ago in Canada.
  6. I guessing it is the Grateful Dead reaching out to the teams. Looking at the box that held the White Sox dancing figurines - it only listed the Grateful Dead organization. I think funds collected for these nights go to the Rex Foundation - the Dead charities wing. Baseball has always done this stuff - at least since the 70's. Kinda proud it kinda started with the White Sox (for better or worse) when Bill Veeck owned the team --- Disco Demolition was one the first times that this type of promotion went awry. But I remember going to the White Sox games and getting hats/shirts in the late 70
  7. Were you shocked at Wrigleyville - esp. if you haven't been there since 85. Quite a change. Did they have anybody from the Grateful Dead organization on hand - the White Sox had TC on the field to say "play ball" to start their GD Night game, this year.
  8. Yeah same here with Judas Priest --- actually I was never a huge fan of British Steel or the records that came after. I always enjoyed You Gotta Another Thing Coming - which was fun to hear. I am a sucker for Turbo Lover, too. They played that, too.
  9. They showed Glen up on the screens during one of the songs tonight ---- it was a bit weird, they were showing Glen up on the screens performing a solo, while Faulkner was actually performing the actual solo. Great night of music, though - I thought Deep Purple put on a better show and sounded better - Steve Morse flat out rocks and Glover and Paice are solid. Space Truckin was the highlight. They should have played Smoke on the Water, then Space Truckin' -- Smoke seemed a bit off tonight, Airey seemed a bit off during the tune.
  10. Had the below book on hold forever and it finally came into my local library today. Looks like the book goes up to 07.
  11. Just bought a ticket for tonight's Judas Priest/Deep Purple show. Finally took advantage of those 'day of show price dropped tickets'. It was pretty crazy how the prices kept dropping through out the day. Got a $99 (plus fees) ticket for $22 - with fees it came to about $29. They are great seats too - about 25 rows back, center. For $29, I can handle the World Music Theater/Hollywood Casino for a night. I need to dig out a black shirt.... I grabbed the lasted Priest record from the library again last week - it is pretty good. Still wish I would have seen KK or Glenn play, but so
  12. Ottawa, IL -- ha! We are biting the bullet and camping out at Mississippi Palisades SP over the Labor Day weekend -- probably will be kicking ourselves, but we can always bail if it gets too crowed/noisy. and I haven't been to Ottawa, Canada ---- though we a now prepared to go - we finally gotten around getting passports for my kids - in case we need skip the country and the crap hits the fan.
  13. You are right -- it shows that GA tickets are still available, but when you click to buy - it states not available. I didn't click on the purchase tab, yesterday.
  14. That's great to see. Listened the 1st set of 8/3/18 from Alpharetta, GA. They are definitely sounding good. Kinda surprised that there are still floor seat available for all three Allstate shows.
  15. Someone posted the below link on the Hoffman board -- pretty funny. https://twitter.com/i/status/1030596706549866496
  16. Yeah - I didn't mean be flippant about the fans -- it's definitely a bummer for them, too. But I am guessing a few of them are blaming the band - which is a shame, if that is the case. Billy Breathes came out when I starting dating my wife - she bought it because she knew I liked Phish. The cassette was in her car player a lot the 1st year we were together. Must admit she always enjoyed it more than I did ( I was still stuck in the early 90's) - but I never asked her to play something else. A lot of great tunes on it. Would you mind sharing a link to the 20th anniversary podcast? -- thx
  17. Guessing the band has insurance for stuff like this, right? A few days ago, I read that the area is a state of emergency until August 21st or something. Was wondering if they were going to be able pull it off. Feel bad for the band and crew. It being my birthday this weekend I was planning on ordering the webcast. I think I will stay away from Phish sites this weekend -- guessing there will be some gripes -- nothin' worse than whiny Phish phans - god love 'em.... Just threw on Billy Breathes -- been a long while.
  18. Is the info Austerlitz's book differ than in the below? Not sure if you read the below one or not.
  19. Yeah -- it being a Hunter/Weir penned tune, I think it is a bit different than the Blue Mountain tunes - I think they should give it a shot. Why not take advantage of Hunter penned tunes that were written with Mickey or Bobby after Garcia's death. Mayer can use his mad dancing skills during some of the Hunter/Hart Mystery Box tunes...Can you imagine a Full Steam Ahead opener, the place wouldn't know what hit 'em....
  20. GD Radio is playing a Furthur show from 11/15/11 --- Right now they are playing Weir's Big Bad Blues - a pretty decent tune. Dead & Co should play it, maybe they have. Lyrics by Hunter http://whitegum.com/introjs.htm?/songfile/BIGBADBL.HTM
  21. Well that stinks. I have been doing the above, also. Thx
  22. Is there a site that has all the current dates and is updated? Thx.
