Yeah some of it is interesting, too - I would support a proper release of the Satanic stuff --- in the the giant book that comes with it, like the White Album release - Keith can write a piece trashing both the Satanic release and Peppers for good measure...

Yeah - those sets are nothing like this White Album collection or like the Peppers' one. It still might be a rights thing with the Stones -- the whole ABKCO catalog. There is plenty of material in the ABKCO vault to do a proper Satanic release like the White Album/Pepper release - though I am not sure how well it would sell...I am not sure about the material for Beggers and Let it Bleed.

Finally got it from the library - it really is a nice looking set. Starting with Disc 4, which is studio rehearsals/takes and such. Revolution Take 18 is quite the trip. Enjoy take 2 of Helter Skelter, also. Looking forward to hearing the Blu-ray - which probably will be tomorrow. I have had the Esher Demos for a long while - I have not listened to them in a long while, though - guessing, I must have not have gotten much out of it, before. I can't imagine the Stones ever putting out a set like this. I am not sure which record they would even consider doing it for.

I am not a Van nor a Boston expert by any means, so I can't vouch for any further mistakes, but it is a good read. A half way decent copy editor should have caught that mistake, though.

It actually is a pretty decent doc. - some of the old management/roadies are in it. Some pretty cool footage, too. Worth watching - I checked out the DVD from the library a while ago. Watched a bit of it last night on AXS - the bit about Gregg 'ratting' out Scooter -- crazy, sad fucked-up time in the band's history.

Today, I finally gotten around to ordering a turntable -- a U-Turn Orbit Custom. Now I can finally can get my records out of my parents house that have been there since 1990. I am looking forward to searching out records, again.

Yeah - just audio --- they do have pictures on the discs that show on your TV as the music plays, though.

For those who have a Blu-Ray system --- Amazon has the The 1971 Filmore East Recordings (3 Blu-Ray discs) on sale for $16.92 - a great, nice sounding set.

I agree that the Dark Star lryics capture the psychedelic experience quite well - I think that was what Hunter was going for, so I guess he hit the mark. Regarding Playin' - I always enjoyed the first stanza and the theme of the tune quite a bit. The imaginary of the below stanza is great, too - especially while watching Weir perform it - heading into the 'standing' verse was always a highlight for me when I was at a show and the band performed it. Listening to the below via sugar megs - Chuck Leavill's solo on Elizabeth Reed is spectacular. Betts had nice things to say about Chuck in the Rather interview -- even stating that perhaps Chuck should have gotten a songwriting credit for Jessica - then he retracted the statement, saying the song structure was 'pretty much all there before they went into the studio'.

Yes -- it was taped over the summer and prior to the stroke. Betts mentioned his high blood pressure in the interview, but said otherwise he was healthy --- it's sad that the high blood pressure more than likely caused the stroke. I can't remember when Butch's streaming (Moogis or something) was being developed. It seemed that someone ( it seemed that Dickey was implying it was someone other than Gregg) in the band wanted the entire band to get behind a business endeavor and Betts was not too keen on spending the band's money on it. This was a big reason why he was fired according to him.

Rather did a nice interview with Dickey -- it seemed like Dickey's main beef was with Butch --- he didn't really want to get in too deep into his firing from the band, since Gregg and Butch has passed away. Betts copped to having a temper and such and I wish Rather would have asked Dickey about Warren and Woody. Besides the firing, Rather didn't touch on their 89 and beyond reunion, which was a bit disappointing.

Definitely looking for to Vol. 30. (Also currently listening to 11/17/07 Ratdog show - decent show with Kimock - I think Karen was off this year due to health issues. Nice version of Dylan's Slow Train Comin')

Woody just needed to add cow bell and he would have had hit. Pretty cool to be able to hear that - shout out to all the tapers and tape collectors out there, so we can continue to hear stuff like this. Wilco seems to have gotten the 'drunk vibe' feeling in their version, too.

I guess I am happy for the Cure ---- will be interesting which members will be officially inducted. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2019 has been revealed, with seven inductees slated to join the Rock Hall ranks next year: The Cure, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Roxy Music and The Zombies.

Man, Jay seems kinda sad in that video - though that's might be the way he is. That whole 'you can't take this stuff with you when you go.....' Just read over on the Hoffman board that a new Son Volt is coming out next years - looks interesting. I haven't listened to their last one in a while - need to give to give it a spin. Also just saw that they playing a New Years Eve show in CO -- imagine how that countdown is going to be??? 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Yay - happy new year, everyone... Actually it may be a nice, relaxing show with a sprinkle of rocking.
