  1. I guess Floyd and Zeppelin played there, too. Actually quite a few others, too. I have that Johnny Winter record - never realized that it was recorded there. I wonder if Deep Purple and The Partridge Family were on the same bill. Rock music concerts[edit] In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Pirates World was the venue for several rock music concerts, playing host to such artists as Jeff Beck Group (1969), Led Zeppelin (1969),[7][8] Iron Butterfly (1970), The Faces (1970, 1971[8]), The Grateful Dead (1970), Traffic (1970), Black Sabbath (1971), Blood, Sweat, and Tears (1971), Deep Pu
  2. Happen to be currently listening to a '70 show, but 3/24/70- Pirates World in Florida. Guess it was an amusement park. This show probably would have been an interesting experience. I guess they had a show on the 23rd at the same place, but no tapes exist. It's ok, nothing too special, though. The transition from Dark Start into The Other one is pretty great, though.
  3. LouieB probably would be familiar with her - I am not, though. Great performance. Looks like she has a standing gig at Kingston Minds - a place I have only been to once, back in the late 90's.
  4. Yeah -- these archival box-set releases are geared towards suckers like me.
  5. There has been a lot of discussion/wishful thinking on the web about the 69 Ark run being the archival box set release this year - which would be great.
  6. I wonder if WikiLeaks gets their hands on it, if they would release it.
  7. Great to see Tortoise on the bill.
  8. Great piece by Oteil. I need to dive into Kofi's music. For some, reason I have not spent much time with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, either. https://oteilburbridge.com/in-memory-of-my-big-brother/
  9. Yeah, at first I didn't want the Sox to sign Machado, but then I wanted them to sign him. Oh well - it is a lot of dough. Go, White Sox!
  10. So far I have just been hitting record stores -- my old neighbor hood has one - it was within walking distance, now it's about 1/2 hour drive without traffic. Been hitting the Reckless that is downtown (Chicago), too. Still have never hit Dusty Groove in Chicago - though I have friends who have been going there for many years and they always have great things to say about it. So far I with worldrecordplayer - I need to look and browse through records, esp used ones. Was happy when I bought a used copy of 1st Iron Maiden record this weekend and checked it out when I got it home, it was $
  11. Just finished it up last night. I really enjoyed the last episode. Pretty cool concept for show. I wonder if there are talks of a 2nd season. Perhaps, they will go with a whole different set of characters and keep the same concept.
  12. Love when shows pop up, after trips are booked and you a going to be in the area...Enjoy!
  13. Talked about the whole Adams and 14 year girl thing, then said it was yet another example of a white musician doing something that black musician did first - then the showed a picture of R Kelly. It was pretty funny.
  14. True. I wonder what the liner notes say, I don't have them handy.
  15. They may have got their information from wiki, the below is on the wiki page.
  16. That was a message to Jim DeRogatis - I have listened to that a few times for laughs. God - seriously, it doesn't get any better than that. I don't know crap about Adams - but, I am a huge fan Neal Casal and I guess he was in the Cardinals. No wonder he is able to put up with Chris Robinson - Chris must seem like a saint compared to Adams.
  17. The Stones have wore their logo quite a bit over the years, esp. Mick. Charlie got in the action, too. Though, when you have a such an iconic logo/symbol you may as well display it. I don't think the rhinestone tank that Charlie is sporting was ever sold at the front of the house. Mick wore the same designed shirt that I bought in 89 while on stage.
  18. That's cool. At breakfast at a Perkins in Fargo, once ---- it was horrible...
  19. Listening to 2/14/69 -- not sure if I have listened to this show before - usually go to the 2/14/68 or 2/14/70 shows for Valentine's Day. Did Bear ever remember to turn on/up the monitors - 'god love 'em.' song 2: Gd69-02-14T02 LadiesAndGentlemenThatsBear.flac
  20. 2 episodes into Russian Doll - it is a hoot.
  21. I think the biggest indoor venue I saw them play was the two UIC Pavilion shows in Chicago, 2009 --- it was a bit weird. I was on the floor, so it sounded ok, but it was weird being in an arena seeing them perform -- it was even more weird seeing Tortoise, who opened, play in arena. I think they played arena venues at various points -- that NYE gig at Madison Square Garden springs to mind. I don't foresee any line up change -- which is both good and bad.
  22. Finally gotten around to watch that "Abducted in Plain Sight" doc - the person who irked me the most was the brother of that B dude -- he was just so flippant in the whole thing. I can't say I would protect any my siblings in the same way.
  23. Yeah, it is bit depressing how much records are going for now-a-days - esp. new ones. $400 for Lawn Boy made for a great return for you! I bought many of mine at flea markets in the 80's. It was always a tough decision for me if I was gonna spend my money on baseball cards or records. Happy to say, after bringing them all from my p's house to my house recently - they all still play well, so far.
  24. Just went to the Reverb site and noticed that I can buy records form The Official Jay Farrar Of Son Volt Reverb LP Shop ---- I read that he was unloaded some instruments/recording equipment, but didn't hear about records.
  25. Never really thought of Ebay - must admit I never purchased anything from there.
