  1. Ditka's on Chestnut has a great burger - if you like burgers - they are suppose to have a great pork chop, but I have never had it. There are a bunch of steak house near the Drake, too. If you are into great church architecture, Holy Name Cathedral is a 10 minute walk or so from the Drake. The Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago is minutes away from the Drake, too. Not nearly as big as the Art Institute, but the typically have some cool exhibits going on.
  2. This book stressed how the Minnesota musicians never got official credit --- I guess they finally will get their due with the new box set - which is great. My set should in my mail box, tomorrow - looking forward to it. http://www.startribune.com/minnesotans-finally-get-credit-for-playing-on-bob-dylan-s-1975-classic-blood-on-the-tracks/499161281/ http://www.startribune.com/meet-the-minnesota-musicians-who-helped-make-bob-dylan-s-blood-on-the-tracks/499161371/
  3. I caught two --- they happen to be my two favorite shows that I attended. The 89 show was my 1st - I am not sure if I was real familiar with the tune that much in 89, but remember it being a highlight while there - Weir was great.
  4. So far Looks Like Rain is a stand out on Disc 1of the latest Dave's Pick - 6.17.76. Garcia really shines on it. Cassidy was great, too.
  5. Listening to this show, now. Sarah Fulcher is a new name for me. Also enjoying the acoustic guitar George Tickner, who was an original Journey member - didn't know that, either. It would have been nice if Fulcher could have learned some lyrics -- she couldn't even sing I Second that Emotion -- that's pretty bad. Some info on Fulcher. http://hooterollin.blogspot.com/2011/09/sarah-fulcher-vocals.html
  6. A really great ticket popped up for the 2nd Weir show in Chicago, so I grabbed it. Really have enjoyed what I heard thus far - looking forward to it. I did get the latest Dave's pick - haven't gotten around to listen to it yet, though. Went camping this week and listened to the 5.17.74 Vancouver show from the box on the way -- great second set.
  7. Yeah - I live about 20 minutes from Indiana in IL -- IL is truly f'd up fiscally, but I rather deal with it, then head across the border. A few of my wife's co-workers have, though. It is nice that there is an electric train line from northwest IN to Chicago. Hopefully IL legalizes marijuana and finally does something about the pension system and we get back on track sooner than later. I am a pretty staunch Dem --- but Madigan needs to go.
  8. I subscribed again - can't really beat the early bird rate. David really outdid himself on this video -- man the wind noise is pretty bad at times --- I wonder if he even watches them, before he puts them out. Guessing not really... Look forward to the Swing show. Still kicking around getting a ticket for one of the Chicago Weir shows. A decent seat popped up, but still on the fence.
  9. Guess in today's game that call would have been overturned.
  10. Man - I was just listening to him on the way home - didn't hear that. That stinks.
  11. Watched the 1st episode of Maniac last week --- quite the trip. Just started up with Season 3 of The Man in the High Castle.
  12. Yeah - Ozark has been great, enjoyed the 1st season better than the 2nd, though.
  13. Weir started his Wolf Brothers' tour a couple of night ago - -below is a recording. Only up to Me and My Uncle - sounds OK so far. Really enjoy Was and Lane's playing on this Uncle version. Won't be catching either of the Chicago shows -may webcast one of them, though. https://soundcloud.com/user-446338098/sets/bob-weir-wolf-bros-10-16-18?fbclid=IwAR1_pp_-52RHBL1qojKNKoELUeAGgvudXw4kW_HnHl5BdFxzW7B6o6PdRlE
  14. Just wrapping up this book -- got to read a bit like a tabloid towards the end - when they author discussed the aftermath reaction of the Minneapolis musician's and residences. Never knew that Dylan owned the Orpheum in Minneapolis or I forgot I knew. The stuff on the recording of the record was great, though.
  15. Read that Stu Kimball has not been playing in his band since the start of this fall tour -- Kimball's website even stated the below right before the start of the tour. No word, of course, from Dylan's camp. I think no guitarist has played more shows with Dylan than Kimball has/had.
  16. I am surprised they didn't throw in "paid' liberal mob. Since the election, It has been a running joke among my local 'liberal mob' - "We are going to be getting our checks in the mail any day now and we are going to be rich, rich, rich!"
  17. Yeah - I don't revisit 76 too often, either. I would have preferred a 68 or 69 show - but so it goes. Will give it a listen when it comes in and hope for the best.
  18. The latest Dave's Pick was just announced - 6.17.76 - Capital Theater. Not sure if I ever hear it before.
  19. That made me chuckle -- (perhaps I spend too much time on grade school playgrounds, while I pick up kids up from school....) One of these days I am going to venture in the world of podcasts. I think I listened to some of Moran's interview with Keith Richards.
  20. For some reason I haven't revisited the Warfield 80 run in a while - perhaps because I have been listening to Dead Set and For The Faithful since the beginning of my Dead listening... Anyway - listening to 10/11/80 this a.m. --- Brent really shines on Rosalie McFall -- such great runs throughout the tune. I would be happy with a box set of the run. 15 shows. I guess they could add the 8 shows from Radio City. The band sure were busy from 9/25 through 10/31 https://archive.org/details/gd1980-10-11.142012.sbd.smith.miller.clugston.flac2496/Gd80-10-11S1t03RosalieMcfall.flac
  21. that youtube is skipping for me -- thanks for that other link, though. I can't remember - did the movie come out first then the record?
  22. yeah -- I read about that - which made me think about the record again.
