  1. Well they kinda are still going on....at least in Florida and in other places.
  2. Was it a Kansas video back in the beginning of MTV where the guitarist was wearing a hockey jersey - I think it was a St. Louis Blues jersey? Ever since I caught a bit of Rather's Big Interview with Kansas a few days ago, which was bit interesting, I have been racking my brain. It may have been a Triumph video... and man I do hate Dust in the Wind...
  3. I always thought the cover was cool, too.
  4. She's a bit older now, but she busted some ribs in 2012. She'll throw some duct tape around her torso and get back right in there. She will be 91 at the end of the possible Trump 2nd term. I can see her going for the record.
  5. Well it could have went better, but I will settle with the House. Nice to see some D Governor's winning, especially in Kansas - bummer about Florida and Georgia, though. Really wish Cruz would have lost Texas, too. Locally, the D's are now in complete control of IL - hopefully they start fixing some stuff, smartly.
  6. Yeah - SNL had a great bit this past weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdNNjCHGixE
  7. From Lammy It was good - glad I went. Definitely would have been a bit better with a lead player (Either another guitar or piano), but weir was in great voice and his playing was great, for the most part. Don Was was solid on bass, too. Was able to get a great seat, so it was nice to watch Was up close. Oddly enough I Need a Miracle and Josephine were highlights for me. It was also nice to hear the tunes from Weir's Blue Mountain record. Lastly Lane is a trip to watch play - stoned to the gills, it appeared. Festive crowd.
  8. Yeah --- of course they could have fixed it on the millions of reprints, but failed to do so. Glad that they got their due in the box set. Of course, I think all the takes in this box set are from the New York sessions, because the Minneapolis sessions are lost/missing.
  9. Ditka's on Chestnut has a great burger - if you like burgers - they are suppose to have a great pork chop, but I have never had it. There are a bunch of steak house near the Drake, too. If you are into great church architecture, Holy Name Cathedral is a 10 minute walk or so from the Drake. The Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago is minutes away from the Drake, too. Not nearly as big as the Art Institute, but the typically have some cool exhibits going on.
  10. This book stressed how the Minnesota musicians never got official credit --- I guess they finally will get their due with the new box set - which is great. My set should in my mail box, tomorrow - looking forward to it. http://www.startribune.com/minnesotans-finally-get-credit-for-playing-on-bob-dylan-s-1975-classic-blood-on-the-tracks/499161281/ http://www.startribune.com/meet-the-minnesota-musicians-who-helped-make-bob-dylan-s-blood-on-the-tracks/499161371/
  11. I caught two --- they happen to be my two favorite shows that I attended. The 89 show was my 1st - I am not sure if I was real familiar with the tune that much in 89, but remember it being a highlight while there - Weir was great.
  12. So far Looks Like Rain is a stand out on Disc 1of the latest Dave's Pick - 6.17.76. Garcia really shines on it. Cassidy was great, too.
  13. Listening to this show, now. Sarah Fulcher is a new name for me. Also enjoying the acoustic guitar George Tickner, who was an original Journey member - didn't know that, either. It would have been nice if Fulcher could have learned some lyrics -- she couldn't even sing I Second that Emotion -- that's pretty bad. Some info on Fulcher. http://hooterollin.blogspot.com/2011/09/sarah-fulcher-vocals.html
  14. A really great ticket popped up for the 2nd Weir show in Chicago, so I grabbed it. Really have enjoyed what I heard thus far - looking forward to it. I did get the latest Dave's pick - haven't gotten around to listen to it yet, though. Went camping this week and listened to the 5.17.74 Vancouver show from the box on the way -- great second set.
  15. Yeah - I live about 20 minutes from Indiana in IL -- IL is truly f'd up fiscally, but I rather deal with it, then head across the border. A few of my wife's co-workers have, though. It is nice that there is an electric train line from northwest IN to Chicago. Hopefully IL legalizes marijuana and finally does something about the pension system and we get back on track sooner than later. I am a pretty staunch Dem --- but Madigan needs to go.
  16. I subscribed again - can't really beat the early bird rate. David really outdid himself on this video -- man the wind noise is pretty bad at times --- I wonder if he even watches them, before he puts them out. Guessing not really... Look forward to the Swing show. Still kicking around getting a ticket for one of the Chicago Weir shows. A decent seat popped up, but still on the fence.
  17. Guess in today's game that call would have been overturned.
  18. Man - I was just listening to him on the way home - didn't hear that. That stinks.
  19. Watched the 1st episode of Maniac last week --- quite the trip. Just started up with Season 3 of The Man in the High Castle.
  20. Yeah - Ozark has been great, enjoyed the 1st season better than the 2nd, though.
  21. Weir started his Wolf Brothers' tour a couple of night ago - -below is a recording. Only up to Me and My Uncle - sounds OK so far. Really enjoy Was and Lane's playing on this Uncle version. Won't be catching either of the Chicago shows -may webcast one of them, though. https://soundcloud.com/user-446338098/sets/bob-weir-wolf-bros-10-16-18?fbclid=IwAR1_pp_-52RHBL1qojKNKoELUeAGgvudXw4kW_HnHl5BdFxzW7B6o6PdRlE
  22. Just wrapping up this book -- got to read a bit like a tabloid towards the end - when they author discussed the aftermath reaction of the Minneapolis musician's and residences. Never knew that Dylan owned the Orpheum in Minneapolis or I forgot I knew. The stuff on the recording of the record was great, though.
  23. Read that Stu Kimball has not been playing in his band since the start of this fall tour -- Kimball's website even stated the below right before the start of the tour. No word, of course, from Dylan's camp. I think no guitarist has played more shows with Dylan than Kimball has/had.
