  1. If it sounds like Surf's Up, I'll be really fucking happy. Even if there's a song as dumb as Student Demonstration Time. --Mike
  2. I finished reading this a few days ago, I highly recommend it (Timeless Flight Revisted) one of the best rock books I've ever read, the story of Michael Clarke's draft board performance alone is worth the price of admission. Great read. --Mike
  3. Yeah, it's one of the best sounding boots out there, the performance is great as well. The 2002 Gibson Guitar Center Rooftop show from Halloween-ish 2002 in Memphis is my favorite live bootleg of theirs but the Eugene show is right up there too. --Mike
  4. Are you a Volcano Suns fan by chance? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npiXD0-S_FY
  5. Jak I recommend the April 27, 2002 version for the earliest incarnation, the Sept 2, 2002 and Jan. 12, 2003 shows feature great versions of a slightly different arrangement with Leroy on acoustic and then the Sept. 4, 2003 is the best of the 03, pre Kraut versions. All are available at the owl and bear Wilco live archive.
  6. The best part of that book is our very own kidsmoke getting a special thanks in the acknowledgements. --Mike

  8. Purple Chick Smile is well worth checking out. One of the first guys I traded boots with was a huge Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fan and had a large collection of Smile boots that he swapped with me, I really enjoy listening to the sessions along with the Beatles White Album and Let it Be session sets there probably my favorite studio boots that I have.
  9. Love this one too, even Something Happened To Me Yesterday.
  10. A Central Depository For VCers Music! For future reference direct posts like this one into the pinned thread at the top of the board. --Mike
  11. I have only listened to Gaucho the whole way through a couple of times, but I love their 70's run. Ted Leo and the Pharmacists have hit consistently with me, Califone too and just about every Brian Eno solo album that I have I've liked. --Mike
  12. Are we counting Two Against Nature and Everything Must Go? --Mike

  14. Closest thing I could find: Bad Albums by bands you love
  15. Fewer things gave me more pleasure as a teenager than blasting D'yer Maker in the parking lot as we stretched for cross-country practice, everyone joining in for the "I love you oh baby I love you I" part. --Mike
  16. They certainly went 5 for 5 for me. Even the deep cuts on the re-issues are pretty awesome. I love most of the songs on that album, but I have to admit I'd much rather listen to the sessions or the Glyn Johns versions than the final product. Still with Two of Us, I've Got a Feeling, Across The Universe, and Get Back all in one place I never found it hard to forgive some of its lesser material. --Mike
  17. Sadly been going through a family health problem crisis also over the last week, sorry to hear this Donna. Hope all becomes well. --Mike
  18. Obvious but necessary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A4r2RU1u3g --Mike
  19. Yeah, it downloads fine. Enjoying now. I remember grabbing this at one point a few years ago, I don't see any problem with it being up. I'd be okay with this Brian guy becoming a member of Wilco if he had more songs like this. --Mike
  20. Yeah, if it's streaming that's okay. --Mike
