  1. Yeah, Leroy is on most shows with them in the 1998 to mid-2001 era. He was only a touring member until Foxtrot, he appears on a few tracks on MA II and When You Wake Up Feeling Old. Naturally it isn't that simple, as Leroy did sit out a couple of short legs on those tours here and there, but yeah any boot that sounds like it has two keyboards on it or three guitars has Leroy (or should I say two guitars playing faintly under Jay who was always turned up two notches higher than everyone else.) --Mike
  2. I'm missing the immediate connection between reactions to those two songs. --Mike
  3. Back Seat of My Car is freaking delightful.
  4. Request list for the covers? Be Not So Fearful and Pink Moon come immediately to mind.
  5. I was going to come in here and point to the solo at the end of Too Many People on Ram as evidence of Macca's shredding talent, but as it turns out he didn't play that, Hugh McCracken did. Carry on. --Mike
  6. This way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlmi4W9DyIU
  7. Yep. Foxtrot is perfect as is For the most part the songs that got taken and developed further were the right ones, and the songs that they kinda perfected as demos were left as that. Venus is tremendous, but I don't really think there's a lot they could have done with it other than just Jay on the piano, Jeff singing and John and Jay's harmonies, I don't quite see that song lending itself to the for lack of a better term "sonic weight" they added to Ashes, Poor Places, et. all. The Foxtrot demos also work very well as their own thing. That might be the third best album of Wilco's available
  8. I'll see your Fire Brigade and raise you Here We Go Round The Lemon Tree http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWsDPHz_Kho
  9. I almost felt like using him to make a point was unfair, but I mess Hodie and Uyen so I figured it wouldn't hurt to bring him into the discussion. --Mike
  10. Jon Brion is pretty amazing at it in my opinion, but he has the advantage of being insanely talented on just about every instrument he plays so it's actually compelling to hear him mess around on just a bass part. For the most part though, yeah I could give or take looping. --Mike
  11. Chinese Apple is divine for my money it's the best song Tweedy has ever written (at least without Jay). Perfect mix of lyrics, tune and arrangement, I love when the acoustic guitars build near the end of the song and then piano kicks in for the last part. I'll never get tired of listening to that first Loose Fur album. --Mike
  12. Eureka is one of my favorites, yeah I used to detest music in commercials, but I really think we're at a point where it's a viable reality for musicians to get a little promotion and money. --Mike P.S.: The Bacharach Tribute album is superb.
  13. This raises the question, does it even matter if the next Wilco album sucks?
  14. The 9-20-2003 from the Auditorium is a particular favorite. And the 7-4-2001 one, Jay's last show is great too. --Mike
  15. Getting blown out by the Packers has caused two owners to shitcan their coaches this year. Chilly had it coming, he was a pretty terrible coach, the only real debate was who hated him more the players or the fans. --Mike
  16. I whole heartedly endorse this move. I make a mix CD to play during the day every year with Alice's Restaurant on it. --Mike
