anyone around these parts going? im wondering what its gonna be like after it got so blown out last year..2 years ago it was tiiiiiiny, and then last year it turned into a real legit 'music fest'. i know they dropped the thing with the metro this year (anyone know why that is?) so they struggled getting bands, but the lineup aint too bad. by the way, if anyone's interested in a 2 day pass, PM me

i was out on michigan avenue (still perfectly dry and not too windy) and heard two girls behind me go "holy crap its POURING down there, go go go!" and run past me. i turned and looked north down mich ave, and it was honestly like i was in a fucking movie. the rain was coming down sideways and every which way, and it was all coming towards me FAST. if i hadnt full out sprinted to my building, i would have been fucked. the wind literally blew me back as i was like 20 feet from the door...i managed to push inside right as the first bolt of lightning/thunder crashed and the rain just came down in

seconded. what a fantastic book. i remember the first time i started reading it, i put it down like a chapter in and insisted that i hated it and that it was absolutely horrible. like a year later someone convinced me to try it a second time around, and i didnt put it down til i finished (funny, i did the exact same thing with the first harry potter book..) i went through a fantasy phase when i was that age...i was into these vampire books called Cirque du Freak (there's like 30 of them now..but they're quick reads. they're about a young boy who becomes a half vampire and eventually has to d

I don't see why there wouldn't be...another way to follow the charity route (if all sales were to go toward the organization or something). They sold merch at the free Decemberists show

so those $45 tickets...are those assigned seating? or does a ticket just get you into the pavilion and then you fend for yourself?

i heard 6:30. shit, i was planning on walking over to grant park after work today...it better not rain. i even tossed my umbrella aside this morning thinking 'hey, its beautiful out! much better than yesterday!' i know the show's free, but you didnt need to pick up a ticket anywhere did you? maybe just for the pavillion or something..?

mmm, playing 2 days after i move out to LA! how convenient.. you know, i was kind of upset about losing the chicago music scene next year, but something tells me i'll be alright..

biggest mistake pitchfork has ever made = putting girl talk at that small ass stage the crowd there was RIDICULOUS. i had never really heard of girl talk until this weekend, i went with a friend who's more into that stuff and she convinced me to check it out..i somehow made my way up to the left side of the stage, and stood mashed up against a chainlink fence for the majority of the show (getting an occasional shove in the back as people tried to sneak through..we were packed in there like sardines). i saw a bunch of photographers backstage and attempted to get through, but by the time i got

she actually ended up not being able to go, so i went solo..i probably wouldnt have bothered if it wasnt for my project, cause i was seriously doubting i was gonna get in..but i was in desperate need of some new pictures before my presentation this week. anyway, it ended up working out nicely, im glad i went! mm im not sure, sorry chris! it sounded fantastic though

full band pot kettle black was definitely the highlight of the night for me as well (with side with the seeds as a close second..ive really fallen in love with that song) i thought the the french kicks were pretty good, but a lot of complaints that you couldnt hear a damn word the lead singer was saying. the music was decent though..i liked em, anyway.. here are a few photos, im still working on editing but here's the link to the rest

well, now we're back to the fact that ben actually WASNT born on the island..so maybe that has something to do with him aging? i dont know what to think anymore. the jacob thing has me baffled. and ben's daughter is always at the back of my mind..does she not know that her mother (danielle) is on the island? alive even? what happened to that boyfriend of hers? what's at the base of her hositility toward her father? also..wonder why richard alpert responds to ben and not visa versa.. something to do with the fact that ben saw his dead mother, and that makes him "special"? (he seemed extremel

I know some people were curious about this show, thought I'd post here instead of digging up the other thread.. They played the majority of the new album but also lots of older stuff thrown in (not that i mind..i havent been able to stop listening to SBS anyway, it was good to hear it live!) good fun, good banter, a pretty long set too. i dont go to northwestern, but ive been doing a project for the past 4 weeks of school (which technically ends today) where i've been learning about concert photography and going to shows and shooting, so this was kind of my last show to wrap it all up...any

so all these new offers keep getting thrown up on the website about free stickers and buttons, and additional downloads and dvd's, etc.. so if i placed my order when the SBS store was still relatively new and before all that extra stuff was getting thrown into the mix, do you think ill get any of that when my order comes? cause i would have waited if i had known, its not like i get it any sooner than anyone else...i kinda feel like im getting jipped for supporting the band early on i dont know, i dont really care about a little extra button or whatever, but i feel like a lot more has been ad

Wilco to play Northwestern's A&O Ball on May 11...
insideoutoflove replied to bböp's topic in Just A Fan
is this the same event that i went to last year with stephen malkmus, the new pornographers and my morning jacket? cause i had no problem getting into that (though they did ask if we were NU students and we just said yes, and then were allowed in without any more questions..) i know that was an A&O production but not sure if its the same "ball" we're talking about. that was great though, really well done and an incredibly fun night. hopefully there will be a way to get in this year as well..
