  1. I think I just crapped myself. Can I jump on this offer too? Jeez.
  2. And here silly me, I thought this was proof that the system works. That the nation has spoken and Rumsfeld listened. Instead it is a desperate ploy by the Republicans to steal back the headlines. Curses!!!
  3. Interesting. Hadn't thought of it that way. Its amazing what a chess game politics is...
  4. No, I find the pics somewhere, save them to my hard drive and then attach them to my message. I guess I should check out this photobucket thing you speak of? EDIT: Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3: Sweet! Thanks whatdisay!
  5. When I try to post pics on this site, they always come out really small and with a border that says "click to enlarge". Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? thanks...
  6. I know most folks hate this album, but I have always had a soft spot in my heart for it. Probably because this was right around the time that I was old enough to start getting into Dylan... 15 yrs old in 1990.
  7. That news conference was so uncomfortable. Did anyone catch and can anyone explain the reference to Bill Buckell (sp?)? A reporter asked the president if he thought Pelosi looked like Buckell (?) and the prez said it was an inside joke that he wouldnt answer. Anyone have any idea?
  8. Where do you see this? Everywhere I go says its too close to call...
  9. I think this was in direct response the overwhelming dem victory. Rummy wouldnt have resigned otherwise, I bet. And doing it befofe the election would have been an admission that things aren't going well in Iraq. Something the repubs seem to continue to try to downplay.
  10. To anyone that said that the Dems taking the house or the senate or both wouldn't accomplish anything other than gridlock, I give you: Don Rumsfeld's head. Its nice to see the system finally working after being broken for so long. The people have spoken and those elected are listening.
  11. I think that's the point here -- people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones (to quote a tired cliche). We all have glass houses -- dems and repubs. But the Republicans seem to be the ones most often throwing stones. So when a prominent Republican figure gets caught as a hypocrite its different than when Clinton got busted. Clinton didn't get caught after running races and crucifying his opponents for their sexual infidelities. Clinton is someone who made a mistake. It's very very different in my book. But I definitely understand El El's point. As a general matter, its ludicrous to
  12. Sorry to hear it remphish. I have had that happen to me too many times in NYC and it is the most sinking feeling. Hell's Kitchen is becoming so gentrified that I would have assumed your car would be safe there too. Its basically like the Upper East Side now with all the bars and restaurants there. Anyway, karma comes around and goes around. Some good karma is definitely in your future... As for the name, a quick google seach uncovers: Hell's Kitchen ...more than a neighborhood...it's a state of mind. From the slaughterhouses and breweries of the 1800s, the draft riots of 1863, the F
  13. Wow, that is pretty damn cool. Maybe this will be good, huh?
  14. Wait, something like this exists? Someone please explain to me what orange squares are these? I usually scroll through threads up to the last post i read. Proving that, yet again, I am an idiot. EDIT: forget it. I found it. Jeez I am an idiot. Any other tips like this for a moron like myself who doesnt know what he doesnt know?
  15. Let's be honest here. McCartney needs Rubin more than U2 does. Maybe Daniel Lanois is available for Paulie?
  16. I've heard it. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks I guess. Didn't like it. But then, I have never been a big solo McCartney guy. A little too precious for me. I think Paul needed John and vice versa. I am frankly stunned that you think its one of the best albums of the last 5 years, but hey, it seems like you and I dont agree on much other than Wilco. EDIT: and as proof that I am not just on a high horse here about solo McCartney, I have always had a sweet spot in my heart for Flowers in the Dirt. Not sure why, but I think Elvis pushed him in a way that John used to. The songs
  17. In honor of the new Who release: Quadrophenia - The Who
  18. I am still waiting for Arcade Fire's 2nd. Unless you count the EP, which I dont. Although maybe I should. I'll let solace be the final arbiter on that one.
  19. I have't heard it, but my prediction is that it will be just like every Stones, McCartney, etc. album to come out in the last ten years. Not as bad as I had feared on first listen, but pretty cheesey. Less interesting on second listen with fear creeping in that this may not be a keeper. Third listen, boring. Never listened to again. I will give it a shot though. I really want this to be good, and frankly, don't understand how it isnt a foregone conclusion that it will be great. I mean, really. Townshend is a genius for crying out loud. But McCartney and the Stones suck now, so I gues
  20. I just got the Califone album this past weekend and havent liked an album that much on first listen in a long long time. Reminded me a lot of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I find that the album must be listened to through my home stereo with good headphones though. Its a completely different (and not nearly as good album) when it plays through my mp3 player or my car stereo. So many of the little things get lost.
  21. It's killing me that we are talking about gold glove awards. I miss baseball. I even miss arguing with bobbob.
