  1. That guy bares so much when he writes/sings/performs that he might as well perform his concerts buck-naked. Seriously. I am with TheMaker -- Things The Grandchildren Should Know is one of the most haunting and perfect songs I know. Knocks me out every time. When I try to bare my soul and write it comes out forced and cliched. I don't know how he does it. But I am glad he does. And thanks again Beltmann for turning me on to him awhile back.
  2. I generally find rock journalism to be lame or cheesey or lame and cheesey. This, however, was an excellent article. Thanks Lou.
  3. I hope the person that made that website rots in hell for eternity.
  4. Jon Brion lied to me when he last performed in NYC and told us in the encore that he'd be back soon.
  5. I hate Webster Hall, but I love me some Leo.
  6. Help!!! Someone please get Phantom Limb out of my head! I cant stop listening to it, singing it, humming it! whoa ooooo ohhhhhh

Who said it was? In this thread, i mean.
  10. Exactly what I was thinking. Stacy's Mom is garbage, but they've got a lot of great stuff. Every other song on that album is great. Hey Julie is maybe a perfect song. I wish I wrote that for my gal.

Hold on a sec. I am not an HRC apologist by any stretch, and she is probably unelectable for the reasons you say. But she voted against a proposition allowing politicians to pay salaries to family members from interest group donations. And that is the right stance to take on this issue. Not to mention, given this thread, it is not the vote that Obama made. So isn't that the issue? Benefitting from who you are married to is one thing. Diverting campaign donations to your family is another thing. And that thing is called a payoff. It's a big difference. HRC voted the right way here an

I am bit skeptical about obama. Mainly because he seems to be hitching his truck to the fact that he didnt vote for the war. When everyone knows that if he had been in the senate, he would have disagreed with the war, but voted for it anyway -- for the same reason that Kerry, Hillary and Edwards did. For political reasons and with an eye towards a run for the white house. Seriously -- no dem with white house aspirations would want to be painted as a coward that voted against the war. Seems disingenuous for obama to suggest that he saw the light when no one else did. That being said, I a
  14. weren't they nominated for (and maybe won?) a grammy for best new artist for welcome interstate managers? That always cracked me up. As if we needed more evidence that the grammys are a complete waste of time.
  15. Thanks for that. Not sure how I feel about that Son Volt song, but damn some of those other tunes are great. What is shorefire?
  16. David Beckham, from what I can tell, is a washed up player who couldn't cut it in England any more and didn't want to play after the Captain title was taken from him. This is hardly the type of player that is going to light America on fire. He is a soap opera at this point. Nothing more and nothing less. Soccer's best shot at getting popular here is for a Gretzky or Jordan type figure to emerge -- young -- that can mature in front of his country and perform well on the international stage in the World Cup. This is nothing more than theatre. Beckham does not bring legitimacy to MLS.
  17. Wasn't this because they were all on the first ballot and only so many guys could get in?
  18. My point was not directed at Adam Sandler so much (or Don Cheadle, frankly, who I think is great). My opinion was more directed at the execution (at least in the trailer) which seemed to overflow with cheesiness. This is a movie that's been done 100 times before but is now being done in the context of 9/11 and will just be pitched as the "feel good" movie of the year. Who wants to bet how the movie ends? I know I am being salty, but don't mean to be. The movie seems like a typical big budget easy movie. Looks pretty boring to me. Sandler is grieving, Cheadle drifts away from his wife.
  19. In that song? When my only other frame of reference is Daltrey's voice? It's not all that hard. We can agree to disagree though.
  20. Wow, that looks like it could be the worst movie ever made. And please. Give me Daltrey and Townshend doing that song. Eddie Vedder? Really? I am not a big PJ fan so maybe I am biased, but I don't see it. Sorry to be such a naysayer about this...
