PIxies cancel Israel concert after deadly Gaza raid
MattZ replied to Chinese Apple's topic in Someone Else's Song
I dont know what Elton's motives are/were, but I would certainly derive pleasure from billing Limbaugh some obscene amount for a relatively easy task and then donating that same money to a cause that goes against everything he stands for. -
One of these days, I am going to buy you a beer.

Yeah, I think cryptique is on the money. -
I saw that David Markson passed away this weekend. Certainly worthy of a mention in this thread. Wittgenstein's Mistress was one of those books that turned my world upside down. To the castle, a sign must have said. RIP.

I see both sides of this. And I know that the Pixies and Elvis would never boycott the US for all the deaths this country has caused in Iraq and Afganistan. It's just a shame all around. -
downloading the metro show now. Thanks hardwood floor! eta: wow, this sounds great.

I am going tonight. Looking forward to it, but I am kind of bummed that "Jay Farrar Solo" apparently means "Jay Farrar with Mark Spencer." I've got nothing against Spencer, but I always prefer one dude and his guitar. Oh well.

Just padding my post count.

I havent read anything about what the ump said after the game, but sometimes umps do that when the ball beats the runner, but whoever is covering the bag gets pulled off? Since the pitcher was running to cover first, is it possible that he thought the pitcher didn't get the bag? So he started the OUT call because the ball was there in time, but then went to safe?

Wow. Talk about a slippery slope. An awful idea.

Man, I always wanted an Angels/Spiwack jersey as a kid.

I havent heard a single person say that, and if I did, I would ignore him/her. Seriously -- that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. You call him out if he's out. And you call him safe if he's safe. And if you screw it up, it happens. You are human, and this is baseball, and that's what makes baseball better than every other sport. Yeah.

This guy may have the worst name in the business, and that MAY have been why I refused to give him a chance until a couple of weeks ago (not really, but it didn't help). The Wild Hunt is pretty stunning. I've got to admit it. Shame on me for not giving him a chance sooner. Took a couple of listens before it clicked, but it clicked. (Also, I understand the Dylan comparisons. Not sure that I'd MAKE any Dylan comparisons myself, but I at least understand them. I rarely even understand them (see Bright Eyes, etc)).

bands you might listen to more if they had a different singer
MattZ replied to Atticus's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think the point of this thread was to list examples of bands that you would like if they had a different singer. As in, you like the music, but not the vocals. Just sayin'. Or put another way, it's hard for me to believe that the person who mentioned Bob Dylan would be listening to "Tonnnnnnny Garnier on bassssss" if not for ol Bobby's vocals. -
I dont know. If he left him in, and Santana gave up a home run, everyone would have killed him for leaving Santana in with a pitch count over 100. I just think managers can't win when their teams lose. If it's me, I leave my ace in. I want to lose with my ace pitching. But that's what Grady Little did too and look where that got him. FWIW, I agreed with Little at the time, and still do.

I dont know why this seems so insane to me, but this seems insane to me. Well, good for them.

Yes, all 10,000 of them. I heard on the radio this morning that the Marlins are selling tix to the perfect game for face value. Apparently, so that people can say that they were there. I am not kidding! Hey, I guess it'll raise some more cash, so why not.

Rhapsody doesn't. I think itunes does. But itunes sorts by first name. As do most programs these days.

(1) new LPs that don't come with a digital download. (2) lists of anything, but mainly music, that alphabetize by first name (e.g., Bob Dylan should not be listed under "B" and The Rolling Stones should not be under "T"). Who the hell actually thinks to go to "T" when they want to listen to The New Pornographers???

Crap, I forgot Like a Rolling Stone and Tangled Up in Blue.

3. Silence Kit by Pavement from Cr Cr 4. No Action by EC from This Year's Model 5. Welcome to the Working Week by EC from My Aim is True I would've said Rocks Off and Uncomplicated if PopTodd and Ghost of Elec hadn't beaten me to it.

I wouldn't say that I am concerned with it, but I do think it is interesting how you continue to insist how black and white this issue is, and yet, this thread pretty much proves it isn't. Different folks in here have different opinions, clearly. So, the thread almost by definition proves you wrong. Also, I learned the hard way recently (my son is 21 months old) how much easier it was to raise other people's kids before I had my own! This stuff isn't easy, and no one in here knows this kid better than his mother. Yes, this seems extreme. Yes, I am cynical. But until I know more, I rema

(Because I am an idiot) I bought the vinyl yesterday. When it comes I will offer my thoughts. It comes with an mp3 download too so we can all talk soon.
