I saw them for the first time in Chicago (night 2) last week and very much enjoyed the show. The hardcore fans I talked to who had seen them a hundred times said it was an average show but I had a great time. I'm more of a casual Phish fan but I also like their new record quite a bit.

I really like the guitar riff/hook/melody - whatever it's called. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the record.

Thank you for posting this, it's nice to know that they are aware of the issue and are rectifying the situation.

You will likely be disappointed in the vinyl - awful pressing - static, and surface noise. Oddly enough, the 45 that comes with it sounds amazing. It also comes with a download card for the digital version. I sent mine back and received a new one that is slightly better but still not good. It's too bad, because the packaging is great - 180 gram vinyl, gatefold cover, and both albums are cool, colored vinyl.

Sad news indeed. I was fortunate enough to see them several times - way back when and in recent years as well. Will need to bust out Duty Now For The Future tonight. Duty Now Spuds. RIP Bob 2.

Great news on the EP even it's half the band recording some covers. I would love to get my hands on it but I'm afraid they will be very pricey if they are only making 250 copies.

Likewise, their fans care about them. I remember seeing Wilco at Otto's in Deklab shortly before A Ghost Is Born was released. XRT had been playing I'm A Wheel but nothing else had been released/played to my knowledge. In any event, they played Hell Is Chrome that night which is a quiet song that many people, if not all, were hearing for the first time and you could hear a pin drop in that place, people were transfixed. At a lot of shows I think you would have seen people shuffle around, head to the bar or restroom during a mellow song that they were not familair with but that wasn't the c

I like to have a few cocktails when I'm at a show. So if you wait in line and get up close, do people save your spot if you have to use the restroom or want to go the bar? We got into The Riv at the tail end of Eleventh Dream Day so it was pretty packed by then. We just chilled in the back and grooved back there. I made it to the main floor for the encore when it had cleared out a little bit.

While not necessarily a marathon, I did go to two shows at separate venues on the same night once. Providence, RI Morphine at Lupo's Walked a few blocks Nick Lowe at Club Babyhead -

Bob Mould - Black Sheets of Rain John Hiatt - Feels Like Rain Jesus & Mary Chain - Happy When It Rains Fishbone - Pouring Rain Elvis - When it Rains, It really Pours XTC - Ballet for a Rainy Day As an aside, I actually used the search function in iTunes - when you search "rain" it also brings up songs with the word "train" in them - I have far more songs about trains than rain.

Yes! "Yellar" came up on my IPod the other day and it reminded me of how dizzy I got watching Billy Campion sing that song live - I don't know how he remained standing while singing that tune.

I saw that tour, unfortunately, the Replacements got kicked off the tour prior to the show I saw in Chapel Hill and the Georgia Satellites opened instead.
-
Me too. They used to play Providence a couple of times a year during their touring days. Fantastic live sounding band albeit with a very low-key stage presence.
-
I wonder if they asked Chris Robinson. That Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes record, Live at the Greek, sounds fantastic.
