  1. "Everything we do is based on The Replacements". He says that prior to busting into Color Me Impressed from a show way back when.
  2. My bad, just saw the Whip It video posted in the Pearl Jam thread. So sue me.
  3. Pearl Jam covering Whip It, and dressing up as Devo from Halloween night: Maybe not as cool as Phish covering Exile on Main Street in its entirety, but cool nonetheless. Plus, Pearl Jam donned the costumes, those crazy kids! Duty Now Spuds.
  4. http://www.clubdevo.com/ If anyone is interested, Devo will be playing two nights in each city and performing Are We Not Men? the first night and Freedom of Choice the second night. They are a great live band and a ton of fun (of course, it helps if you dig their music). Duty now spuds.
  5. Does anybody wave the hippie, freak flag better than the Crowes right now? Good stuff. Looking forward to the show at Riv in November.
  6. He sang some great tunes with Husker Du, in particular, "Books About UFO's" is pretty damn fabulous. Have you ever heard the song "Grant Hart" by The Posies?
  7. Any drummers in the house? What's that thing on the right side of the drum set that kind of looks like Mickey Mouse ears?
  8. I was at the show in Dekalb, IL on Saturday Night. They went on around 10:45 or so. The show was outstanding, mostly older songs but they played one tune from the upcoming record.
  9. From the Department of Useless Trivia, the above is actually a picture of Chi Chi Rodriguez.
  10. I was shut out as well - I was looking for 2 of the $55.00 seats. I then asked for 1 best available and was offered a $250 seat - I like U2 but not that much.
  11. There are other revenue streams that some artists use to their advantage, Phish and the Black Crowes come to mind. They both offer their live shows the next day for download for a price. Obviously, this won't work for every artist as you have to have a big enough fanbase to download enough shows to offset the cost of putting it all on the web. But if you really like the band and loved the show, for $10.00 you get a pretty nice memento of the evening.
  12. Talking Heads (Psychedelic Furs opened) - Orpheum Theater, Boston, 1980 or 1981 Got a job at freaking K Mart and my first night on the job was the night of the show. I never saw the Heads in concert.
  13. Has any band ever had a better four year (album) run than the Stones with Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile? As a footnote, I miss the era when bands made records every year or every other year.
  14. I'll be cherry pickin' some of those dB's and Let's Active tracks.
  15. Another great B Side by Sugar is "Going Home". I would also add "Babysitter" by The Ramones which was the B-Side from "Do You Wanna Dance".
  16. What's the B-Side? Is it "Sitting Still"? If so, is it the same version that is on Murmur?
  17. I love Steve Earle & The Supersuckers version of the Stones (Keith Richards vocal) Before They Make Me Run. From Some Girls, the Stones version of Just My Imagination is pretty damn good too. I forget who did it originally though. I'd like to hear Wilco cover Far Away Eyes or Respectable from Some Girls.
  18. Bob Mould - Sunspots Ramones - Durango 95
  19. You could just do a set of songs by The Pop-O-Pies: http://www.pop-o-pie.com/
  20. I always loved Warner Hodges from Jason & The Scorchers. Are they considered alt-country?
