  1. CNN says its too close to call for now. She is up by 6000+ votes and has 40% vs his 36% Make that 7000+ with 72% reporting
  2. What is the best Internet channel for fast updates? I am TV-less right now EDIT: for those equally challenged: Linky
  3. I also use Winamp with my iPod. iTunes is for luzors
  4. Interestingly though, their names stay the same, what the two parties of the last 150 or so years stand for has changed almost 180 degrees. Republicans were the party of Lincoln and Democrats generally were white southerners -- who were all about state's rights.
  5. He can always move it up the street or to the other side
  6. She seemed to me (one who did not have the pleasure of meeting her) that she lived fearlessly and fiercely.... not afraid to express herself verbally and through her art. I aspire to that. Edie
  7. JFC -- I can't belive this. I never had the chance to meet her but I absolutely loved her posts -- what a wonderful sense of humor. I hope we can get more details. She was from MI, right? Thank god no one can see me... I'm in tears....
  8. Bobbob, I know what you mean; there is no actual "red and blue" -- states and people are all really shades of purple; some more blue than red and vice versa. However, with the advent of the 24 hour news networks and the vitriolic, contemptuous use of the word "liberal" on so many pundits' lips, it's hard not to fall into the "he said she said" traps, which is why I posted (and loved) the piece that I initially posted. I do take umbrage with your statement "Nobody ever says anything substantive, and even more importantly, nobody ever listens to the other side." I think there is a lot of subst
  9. This is one movie I will definitely see. Then again, I said that about The Departed and I still haven't seen it
  10. I need to see the movie, but I gotta tell ya the song that has been saturating the radio annoys the crap out of me.
  11. How prescient. And now Dr. Phil is getting into the act. Linky I sincerely hope she gets the help she needs.
  12. We have asafetida in our spice cabinet. It is also known as "hing" in Indian cooking. While not required, it does add a little something to the mixture
  13. If you are getting in town early enough, you can look for a non-meter and non-regulated parking spot near the L, and just park your car there for the week. Or use one of the CTA's park and ride lots -- I think the one at Howard (on the Red Line) is like $1.75 a day.
  14. Ahhh. Peel, I wouldn't worry about it. Huckabee is a nutjob and I can't see enough of the American people buying what he is selling. Though if he does win, I'm moving in with Dreamin' as her long lost cousin.
  15. I forgot how much I love this:
  16. Huckabee scares the crap out of me. I first heard of him in 1997 when he became governor due to scandal and then in his first act, moved up the execution of a murderer who converted to Buddhism -- Frankie Parker. Interestingly, Huckabee went on to pardon a number of murders and rapists who had converted to Christianity (including one then went on to rape and murder again). Get a load of this: Top 10 moments
  17. This here is some good advice -- though if you are going to the Riv make sure it is the red line (Howard/95th line). it runs straight through downtown and is adjacent to michigan ave.
  18. It's use in the DVD is wonderful. I'm a fan.
  19. Your initial post when you asked about a number of hotels that are pretty pricey seemed to suggest that you have some dough.
