I am related on my dad's side to John Brown. He did not survive his execution.

I am of two minds on this. On the one hand, like you said, I strongly disagree with many of Warren's views, and think he is a polarizing person for a certain percentage of the population. On the other hand, he is not being given any real power or a voice in the administration, so I feel like its just a display of bi-partisanship, like you said. As long as its just a symbol of "Hey, I can be friends with conservatives", thats fine. I think ideally Obama should have just picked a local priest that he was very good friends with and had no meaning attached to him. But I guess Jerimiah Wri

I was not excited when I heard about Heath Ledger, and that ended up working out very well. I wouldn't have a problem with Eddie Murphy, but there are few actors I dislike more than Shia....

I like the streets, not the docks!

Season 2 is the worst season, and it is good.

I have been listening to This American Life's free podcast for a while via iTunes. Did they change the set up? Also: " It costs the radio station around $150,000 per year just for the internet bandwidth to deliver the free podcast and web stream of This American Life. That’s not staff. Not computers. Just the bandwidth. "

This graphic is alongside ESPN's story on Sam Bradford winning the Heisman. "Last 5 Non-USC Quarterback Heisman Winners" seems like they are stretching to find a pattern...

I was in Grant Park on election night so I already have my "I was there when..." story for my future kids. But I'm sure it will be fun.

Did you live in the Alamo?

until someone figures this out for you, you should probably get your signature font size back up to what it was.

I lived in California for a lot of Blagojevich's term, and I had Illinois friends make fun of us electing Arnold for governor. Yesterday, my California friends contacted me to make fun of my Illinois governor. sigh...

We need to give Patrick Fitzgerald a medal. He's totally like Harvey Dent, pre-Two Face.

yeah, thats where I found out about it. I always recognized Christopher Lee, but didn't know who the other people were.

yeah, i actually really liked some of the tunes on this. (you can hear it all here. I'm a fan of "Sing the Changes") although Band on the Run is the best post-Beatles Paul for my money.

Did any of these articles state whether or not he still has the power to declare Barack's successor? Depending on how not classy he is, he can still use his governor powers, right? Maybe he'll tell the judge that he'll appoint him senator if the judge lets him go.

I don't want to say anything, but if you publicly disagree with Mayor Daley on policies, stuff is going to happen to you.

Not sure, but some coaches (Bob Stoops and Pete Carroll) have declined to vote because of their conflict of interests.

My favorite pick was how Urban Meyer had Mississippi ranked much higher than anyone else on the list. I wonder why that could possibly be. I can't really blame a coach for trying to make sure his team gets to play in the best bowl possible, but there's no way to take bias out of the coaching polls. heres a nice interactive chart if you want to see who voted what: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/foo...s-ballots_N.htm

My senator is very powerful! Yes we can!

This isn't the "Courtney Love getting slugged by a fan" thread I thought it was.
