Europe got the best vinyl this time.
-
I wonder if/when we'll get a single this time. I'd love to get If I Ever Was A Child on 7" before the LP comes out. I still spin Random Name Generator 7" occasionally.

Is everyone going to chew their gum? I almost feel bad destroying such a limited collectors item! Maybe e-mail Kung Fu? I ordered mine at 7:20 PT and when I check my e-mail confirmation the gum is listed below the album.

I don't know if I'd say those are lazy album titles. I definitely don't think they take naming their albums as serious as they did with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or A Ghost Is Born. Fortunately, they still take their music seriously so I'd guess it's actually a sign of maturity. ..If that makes sense??

Nice, what great news to wake up to! Limited edition vinyl ordered. Kung Fu continues to be ridiculous with their shipping prices to Canada. The shipping was 75 cents cheaper than the album! I'm glad the coloured version was available online this time, last time it was a hassle to find a record store that would ship a white version of Star Wars for a decent price. Looks like they realized not everyone has independent record stores nearby these days, unfortunately. Hopefully Wilco plays the new album in Seattle, it'll be a week before the album comes out! Live would be a great way to first expe

Does anyone remember if you could buy Star Wars on iTunes while it was free on their website?
-
If Ever I Was A Child is on Spotify. Great bass line, John!
-
I don't know what's more surprising, a new Wilco album for that Napster is still a thing!
-
Tonight would be amazing! Star Wars came out digitally first as a surprise release, I'd bet they're doing that again.
-
Note the green on the wilcoworld.net matches the green on the cover. I tried schmilco.kungfustore.com (Star Wars had starwars.kungfustore.com for a preorder page) but nothing came up. EDIT: Amazon.com has an order page up. Looks like the release date is September 9. EDIT 2: And a vinyl version too. Also out on September 9 (you might recall Star Wars on vinyl was a few months delayed), but Amazon can be wrong when it's this early.

That sounds more like the "fucked up country record"!! I really, really, dig what we can hear from If I Ever Were A Child. We need a green vinyl variant!
-
I know it's a little obvious but Summerteeth. Especially the poppier songs, with their synthesizers and catchy melodies. Plus, you know, the name.
-
Still waiting for my email.... I wonder if this is a Star Wars outtake or peak at the next album? EDIT: iOS fails again. Great song, awesome bass from John. I hope they add this to their set lists. I love these surprise Wilco releases!

Not sure if any of you saw this but yesterday the Wilco facebook page posted this: The link leads to a signup the mailing list. So the whole thing kind of sounds like some news is about to be announced. Probably Solid Sound 2017 but we could hold out hope for the new album. Last year they timed Star Wars to be announced/released right before for the Pitchfork Fest, this year their big summer festival appears to be Fuji Rock in Japan on the 23rd. If they released the new album then they have some time to do press before the tour kicks off in August. Which will make sense since they've already

If it's real, I'm willing to bet they'll do a surprise release again. It was this time of year last year when Star Wars surprised us all so... maybe any day now??
-
Great story, you should definitely post that on the request a song link. My wife and I chose You and I as our first dance on our wedding night, it's maybe not my favourite Wilco song but it'll always hold a special place to us because of that.

Thanks for getting back to me! That's all good info. Easy Street is now on my list. I've actually heard of Silver Platters before and Zion's Gate which I also want to check out. A little sterile is fine for me, our only record store closed down a few years ago so any time I'm actually in a real record store now it's a pretty big deal. There's some of the artists playing at Bumbershoot that I definitely would have wanted to check out, Andrew Bird, Margo Price, Father John Misty, but the 3 day passes are pricy, that's pretty disappointing if it use to be free. We'll drive home on Sunday morni

Nice, another BC'er! We're driving down from Prince George, but we'll drive half way on Thursday evening so it shouldn't be too bad. We're staying at the Moore Hotel which was really affordable and sounds like it's not a dive, which was my big concern, it's just lacking some amenities. But we'll be able to leave the hotel and walk 20 feet and be at the venue, which is a-ok with me. We went to Vancouver in March to see Joanna Newsom which was suppose to be our big trip of the year, but I just can't resist two nights of Wilco! Thanks I haven't heard of Bumbershoot, I'll do some research!
-
Well I was originally worried about where to stay, but the wife just discovered there's a decent hotel right next to the Moore Theatre, so that takes care of that. How's driving downtown? How's the Moore Theatre area at night? Best record stores? Is the EMP Museum worth visiting?
-
In for September 2nd and 3rd in Seattle. I got decent seats both nights but probably not the ones I would have wanted, but I don't know how in demand Wilco would be in a venue like that so I took what I could get. If anyone has some advice for the city, it'll be my first time in the US, let me know!
-
Officially made the decision to go to both Seattle shows, since it's only an extra 2 hours to my 8 hour drive to Vancouver. Looks like I missed out on the presale though, oh well I can't see the general sale selling out that fast. I've never seen Wilco two nights in a row, I'm so excited!
-
Terrible news.... source.
-
It's definitely the best since A Ghost Is Born. I don't know if it's quite up to the level of Being There, Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, or Ghost, but it's pretty close.

Visiting Chicago next month. Wilco stuff I should check out?
TCP replied to Craig Borders's topic in Just A Fan
Be careful not to order any pizza. People from Chicago often mix up "pizza" with "thick tomato soup in a breaded bowl", it's just not right.
