You nailed it. I just spun my LP for the first time. It's definitely going to take a few listens to properly digest, which is a nice balance from Star Wars. If history has taught me anything, Wilco is at their best when you don't fully understand on first listen.

I was surprised by how similar it was to last night's show but it was still very good! I agree with knotgreen that the triple whammy of Ashes/Locator/Laminated Cat was fantastic. How great is Pat on the banjo? I love the response from the crowd when John sings It's Just That Simple! The acoustic version of Nothingsevergoingtostandinmyway was another highlight. The pause in the concert was unfortunate and I feel bad for the band as they probably didn't know what was going on. You know, I have to say for having marijuana legal here, I haven't seen it or even smelt it once since arriving yesterday AM. Is it usual for the band's photographer to take a picture of the crowd at the end of the show?

Just got a vinyl copy thanks to a certain Seattle record store selling it early. Download code doesn't work yet and I didn't bring a turntable with me BUT the artwork is, as always, top notch!

Yeah I was really impressed with the background of the set, it would change colours between songs, some songs even had clouds that would move at different speeds! My first Seattle (and US concert!). The crowd did a really good job singing along for A Shot in the Arm, but from at least where I was sitting (lower balcony) it was the worst crowd I've been in. People in front of us were talking the whole time, someone behind us took photos with their flash on throughout the entire concert which is just rude, and someone threw up not too far from us. Kudos to the staff though, they were super quick

That stage looked great and that setlist was awesome. Reservations is great live. I've seen Wilco play Impossible Germany 3 times now but I've never seen Nels solo like that, jeeze. EDIT: Oh and the new Schmilco songs that haven't been released online (officially) by Wilco sounded great! I hope we get a few more tomorrow night.

All you people living close to major cities make me sad I've lived in the interior of BC most of my life, an 8 hour drive to the biggest city, Vancouver. So I haven't seen a lot of concerts locally. Well once Great Lake Swimmers played here, they were ok. And like a fool I once missed Joel Plaskett. I saw a few concerts in 2006-07 when I was in Vancouver for college, but not a lot of the bands I was into played the city in that period. Yeah the fact that Star Wars was easily the best Wilco album since A Ghost Is Born only makes the excitement for Schmilco worse. I was definitely not this excited for The Whole Love or Wilco The Album.

There's no better way to get me excited than to compare something to On the Beach. Must... remain... calm....

I've been watching The Tragically Hip concert on CBC! Did they just play the two Schmilco songs??

There's a romantic notion of a band like Wilco recording mostly live in the studio together. And they've done that on albums like Sky Blue Sky and The Whole Love. I just don't think those are particularly great albums for Wilco. Especially in comparison to Star Wars. The performances on those albums are great but the songs are lacking. If recording the songs separately lets the band do something as fresh sounding as Star Wars and the Schmilco preview songs, I'm ok with that. I'd sacrifice the warm studio intimacy that records like The Whole Love had for all around better songs.
