I'm going to be spending my entire first listen of the next Wilco record trying to hear those peppermints in the mix.

I just got these records. Thanks to the very special Bull Black Nova enthusiast fan who helped me out! Agreed with arjaykay, both songs are clearly from the Ode to Joy sessions, and either one could easily slide onto that record. In fact, the sleeve is made out of the pages of the OTJ deluxe edition book, like the Chicago version of OTJ was. As we already know, Half Life really a good song and this full band version is a treat. It has a mandolin sounding acoustic guitar doing some nice lead (I imagine a high capo'd acoustic from Nels??). The strong, non-cymbal drums that Ode to Joy

I know it's all been available for non-subs but if it wasn't, the demos alone that Jeff has shared have definitely been worth the price of the subscription. I've enjoyed the writing too! But I do expect it will evolve as Jeff figures out the formats and what works best.

Yesterday I watched a couple of old scifi movies I'd never seen before. Blade Runner The Final Cut -This movies oozes style and mood. It's a little slower paced than it should be but I was captivated in the world it created. Harrison Ford is great but how awesome was that "tears in the rain" speech at the end?? Alien -This one was even better than Blade Runner. A seriously well put together movie. It's amazing how much better this movie from 1979 looks with it's practical effects than a movie 20+ years later does like Attack of the Clones. Even though I had n

I'm looking forward to the next Wilco RSD release... "Wilco Live at the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre" 😂 -

FWIW, and this is obviously anecdotal, but I was confused a few weeks ago when Vince mentioned to me Wilco playing Merriweather Post Pavilion. I just know that name as an Animal Collective album. As a foreigner from a distant land, who's into music, I feel like if someone like me is aware of a venue then that's probably a good indication of it's "legendary" status, like the Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks, First Ave, etc. But maybe in this situation that's just on me. Anyways, appreciate the recap as always bbop! -
If you like Hunt For the Wilderpeople check out Jojo Rabbit, another Taika film!

You're what we'd call a "lifer".

I think the other single is actually a Wilco single, not a JT single (maybe Jeff's bonus single from LITK is there too?? But that's on the Wilco store too.) Someone posted pictures of it on the Facebook group, but I can't find it now because Facebook's search features are hot trash. But the A side was definitely Half Life, the Ode to Joy outtake Jeff had played on TTS. The B-side I didn't immediately recognize.

Oh also, the Wilco IG page posted the merch booth and there was a different 7" there, captioned with "what's this?". Did @bböp or anyone else there scope out what this was? -

Great review Paul, nice to have these recaps to read again. I can't believe I haven't seen Wilco in 513 days!!! -
High five! I'm also an audio engineer, or at least, that's what I went to school for... Mastering is definitely the least understood part of making a record. And as you mentioned, it doesn't help when remastering and remix are often used interchangeably and remix can mean two different things!! I definitely have some rose tinted glasses for YHF, I like the way it sounds. And unlike Being There or AM, which both sounded very much "of their time", so remasters made sense, YHF doesn't sound like anything else, 2002 or not. It's aged well IMO. But probably fair point about some things objecti

If I was a betting man, which I am not, I would bet on the band releasing a new album this fall. As we know from TTS, they have obviously been recording it and there was a photo of Pat working in the studio with a session musician circling around. Assuming it's a real photo, we can tell that the album is, likely, pretty far along because using session musicians would probably be one of the later stages of tracking (you wouldn't hire a session musician for a song that could get scrapped or could get re-worked/re-recorded/etc, right?). I guess it's always possible they could release the album (d

Big thanks to @u2roolz and @ZiggyBratwurst for their note taking over the past 200 episodes!

Thank you Recapper!! Also that Ambulance song is 🔥🔥🔥

I caught the end of the set with Nels. It feels like that Love is the King solo was made for Nels!! Too bad it wasn't a Wilco song though I guess the precedent has been set that a solo Jeff (or Tweedy band) song can become a Wilco song later on..... There was some strange comments going on in chat that I normally don't notice. I saw someone accusing Nels of being a Trump supporter among other weird stuff. Too bad there's no way to create moderator roles on Instagram!

Hey folks, just wanted to let everyone know that Alpha Bravo Charlie just hit 100 episodes!! We're doing 200 total songs, so we're officially half way done. The Wilco community has been so supportive of the show, I'll be so sad when it's over. There's also another Wilco podcast now called Wilco Will Love You that if you like our show I recommend checking them out as well, they're great.
-
No, that sounds familiar!! Thanks for the clarification!
-
Another great show!! As another youngest child, I felt for Sammy tonight!! Only 7 left right?? Jeff wanted to finish at 200 or am I remembering wrong?
-
That's why I'm fully prepared to adopt each member of Wilco and their roadcrew!! But in all seriousness, the border will be open soon, definitely by the time the fall tour starts. Unless things go sideways again........... but plenty of US bands have already announced Canadian shows.
-
Assuming travel and everything works out, the wife and I will be back in for Portland. It really sucks that Vancouver and Calgary are both shows that got cancelled. Hopefully the band is planning a long overdue Canadian tour for 2022.

I might have, sort of, kind of, forgot it was Thursday. I appreciate the great recap!
-
IIRC the Minnesota show had Wilco opening because it was kind of a home town show for the Turtles and the others had Wilco opening. Of course that was pre-pandemic and maybe plans have changed.

That's perfect!! Thank you Ziggy!
