That's fucking stupid, I live in Prince George, British Columbia, and I get a local Chicago station and can watch Blackhawk games. The buzz is that they're working out a deal with ESPN... we'll see I guess. Do your guys local teams do pay per views? http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/01/07/ruutu_nhl/ Laugh Out Loud! I was totally joking, just so you know!

I'm jealous! But Canada winning gold for 5 straight years fixes all. NBC's coverage of the NHL has always been pathetic at best. The NHL needs to get back on ESPN.

How about My Humps, My Lovely Lady Lumps, Check It Out.

I suppose.... EDIT: Oh wait no I totally hear it now!

Can't believe no one said The Tennessee Three.

I'd rather Vancouver vs Rangers, Bruins, or Habs. Any day I don't watch the Leafs is a good day. Next year... Yankee Stadium versus... hmmmmmmm maybe Boston? Leafs? Philly? Probably Leafs, they haven't been involved in any of these games, the center of the universe needs their attention. The holiday's are done, the snow is still here, CFL is done, NFL is almost done, this is the time of year for hockey!

Is Boston cold enough in the winter? I was initially surprised that they could host a game outside in Chicago, until I remembered I Am Trying To Break Your Heart. One of the many things Wilco teaches me. I still think the Winter Classic should be an east vs west match up, to make it a little more special. Regardless, all the NHL I've tried to watch since last night seems a little boring compared to that WJC game. Can't believe you guys missed that! Next time there's a game where teams like Russia, Sweden, USA, or Canada square off, try to watch it online, I'm seriously impressed with some of

Who?

Is this a clever spamming attempt?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!

That was by far the best hockey game I've seen all year. In fact, one of the best I've ever seen. Hope you all got to watch it.
-
If any of you can tune in and watch the World Juniors, there's an epic game right no between Canada and USA. USA was up 3 nothing but Canada climbed back thanks to Tavares, Hodgson, etc... all in the first!

He definitely has his fathers way with words.

I wonder if Thomas can carry the team through 4 rounds of playoffs? It'd be interesting to see.

That was a really good game (Nucks and Hawks) it could have gone either way. I really like the intensity Bieksa plays with, that's how the North West is played. Ohlund isn't a big name?? Maybe it's cause he's a defenseman, but yeah I see what you're saying, that's why I have so much faith in the team this year. Compare the Nucks to the Sens. The Sens are built around "The Big 3" and that's it. The Canucks, every player is useful and plays their role perfectly. That's how you get a team that goes far... almost every team in the league has their star player... Jerome Iginla, Sidney Crosby, Mari

I was not aware the Canucks were playing the Bruins tonight Well, law of averages says the Hawks won't win tonight, I guess it all depends on how Sanford plays. Historically, the Canucks have played very well against good teams in the past few years... it's the bottom 10-teams the Nucks tend to have problems with. Like the Kings last season and the Blues the season before that.

Wasn't there some sort of a curse on a Boston baseball team? Has that moved to the Bruins!?!?!

Told you all they were peaking! I'm on a roll! Kelly Hrudey of Hockey Night in Canada thinks Mats Sundin makes the Canucks a Stanley Cup contender, and he's not the only person I've heard say that. He is, however, one of the best commentators in the business, I think. The great thing is that Mats took less money, about 1.5 million less, that, prorated at the trade deadline will mean they can acquire a 6 million dollar player wooo.

WE JINXED IT!!!

Could this day get any better?!?!
-
WHO CALLED IT?!?! THE DOCTOR DID, YEP THAT'S RIGHT. Woooo.. what a great 1-2 punch. Last night, a beautiful ceremony for Trevor Linden, tonight Mats signs with the Canucks.
-
I disagree, I think Sundin with either of those teams has a decent shot at the cup. NYR has it a bit easier, VAN has to get past the San Jose and Detroit, but it's possible. San Jose, in my opinion, isn't as good as they seem, they're just peaking early, rather then in the playoffs. Sundin is a big (6 foot 6) physical presence, who can net you 50 points for the rest of this season. In my opinion, and maybe I am biased, but I think Vancouver with Sundin is a better team then the Rangers with Sundin. The Rangers should have been trying to improve their blue line not their offense. Vancouver has

Nope, JP shot those rumours down. Though NYR has a long history of screwing Van over. The 94 playoffs, sending us Messier, we almost had Gretzky but they plucked him, and signing Naslund. Which wasn't a bad thing, but some would disagree with me.

THURSDAY! MATS WILL MAKE A DECISION! Suspiciously one day after Trevor Lindens retirement ceremony... hmmm. Apparently Sundin's agent and Canuck's GM Mike Gillis have met TWICE in the past 48 hours... hmmm. Last Saturday the Canucks finished their longest road trip and finished the hardest part of the season (travel wise), which apparently was a concern to Mats Sundin... hmmmmmm. And yes, this thread needs more life.

I think Rivers Cuomo and the period where he refused to even play any song from Pinkerton is a great example of this.
