I too hit these three shows. If I remember correctly this was a H.O.R.D.E Festival show which also featured Sheryl Crow and Blues Traveler (with the Allman Brothers headlining). Adding to this great weekend was Traffic who opened for the Grateful Dead at Soldiers Field. Some funny memories.... A group of 9 of us piled into a suite at the Ritz-Carlton that weekend for some upscale partying. It was a wild scene as the Dead were staying there too. I ran into Jerry in the hotel gym riding a stationary bike (which just seemed very un Jerry-like at the time), had drinks with Bob Weir and Har

If you are from CT you might know Daphne Lee Martin from her country band Raise The Rent - who won the 2012 CT music award for best country band. About a month ago she released a solo album (not country & with new band) titled Moxie which worked its way onto my Sonos playlist and is now in the regular rotation. I recently read on her website that they were touring out to SXSW. Want to see/support a cool new band? Here's your chance. Just a 'heads up'.... I just cancelled (@9:15a) a reservation for 2 tickets for tonight's taping of Colbert. So anybody looking to go tonight can probably grab those from the Colbert ticket webpage.

Chuck Prophet & the Mission Express treated a packed Cafe Nine to a most raucous rock show this past Wednesday night. A high energy performance from start to finish - wow. I think Chuck and his band were extra amped after a 50min high energy opening set by Paul Collins' Beat during which Chuck sat in for the last number. Collins, a legend in his own right, is best known for songs "I Don't Fit In" and "Rock-N-Roll Girl". Chuck's new material sounded great live and blended into his dynamic live show seamlessly. Here was the complete setlist, as played: Storm Across The Sea Balinese D

i believe the normal recording policy is in place for these shows : audience recordings are allowed but i would not try snapping an unauthorized photo - that has been outlawed since March 2010 and of course shooting video of any kind is not permitted

Wow. How cool ! Another Wilco site - can you say "copy & paste"... I love when a setlist is taken from Via Chicago and put on another site featuring web advertising. Heck - why not throw some ads right in the middle of the setlist .... Oh, you got that covered. Any good deals on Viagra you can insert into the next set list you copy? When did journalism become such a blatant copying of content ? In this case from from Wilco Twitter, Wilcoworld, and Via Chicago. feedback: stick to covering indie films

Excellent show last night in New Haven, CT's coolest place to see a rock band. Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express are simply one of the best deals out there - serious bang for the buck. I leave every show with that feeling... I went to the NLCS game 1 last night in Philadelphia (Phillies v Giants). When a Phillies player was walked (and there were 3) they would play the following snippet from Walken over the PA ...... "I'm walking, all by myself"

Does anybody have a copy of this unique documentary ? I saw it on IFC years ago and have been trying to find a copy ever since. Used copies sell on Amazon for $80 and I saw a new copy on Ebay for $300 !@#$%? It is the story of Dan Cleveland and his heavy metal band Dark Horse.

No magic for the Mets tonight. Bernie Madolf's season tickets to opening night - $7,500 Citi Field - new ballpark - $632,000,000 The 'Amazin's' choking in the opener - priceless

I just saw the photo of the two 'bobbleheads' and it made me laugh. Both times I met Harry he was wearing a light colored sports coat and the signature white loafers. A classic style that I hope to pull off someday (when I am retired in Florida). ESPN's video tribute: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4064793 ESPN is such a joke. To open the 11pm Sports Center (which has sucked for years) with NBA just is not right. Wow - we lost Mark 'the bird' Fidrych today as well.

As a life long Phillies fan and season ticket holder this news hit me hard today. Harry's voice has been a staple in my life as long as I can remember. As a kid, before the internet, I remember huddling in the kitchen with my father listening to Harry's call of the Phillies games. Despite living in CT the Phils station back then - WOGO has a 50,000 watt transmission and everynight around 8pm we could pick up the games. Radio waves can travel insane distances at night especially over water. This is an extremely sad day in the world of sports broadcasting. Harry had one of the greatest voi

Another solid set by Cloud Cult at the well known club in the middle of the Yale campus. Toads rock club could use a little TLC. However, the after some recent tuning PA was sounding better than it has in years - steps in the right direction are being made. The band is hitting its mid-tour stride. The set lists below are pretty close. The first band, Ice Palace, also impressed. I missed the last 15 minutes of the Margot set. Ice Palace- 35 min Phonebook Pillow Coliseum Devils Tower Pirate By 30 Outside the Gates Slow Motion Fall Nuanced & Spark Thought Facts Cloud Cult- 60 min

What a great night! Aside from being in an IHEG venue - which I try to avoid. Three solid bands in the club room at Pearl Street : Ice Palace, Cloud Cult, and Margot & the Nuclear So and So's. I mainly went to see Cloud Cult but was pleasantly surprised by the entire bill. some highlights from Cloud Cult's 60 minute set: No One Said It Would Be Easy Pretty Voice Tornado Lessons 2x2x2 Take Your Medicine If you get a chance you should go check out this show...Boston and New Haven next.

My recording from the Higher Ground was also ruined by cell phone hits. There are hits through the first few minutes of each song that were caused by the phone wielding crowd - texting, twittering, and calling their friends to let them know each song as it was played. Between the phone cameras, people texting & sending messages, phones ringing during the performance - it is my opinion that this marvel of modern technology -the cell phone - is doing its best to ruin the concert experience. I might have to start traveling with my cellphone jammer. Can you imagine the masses of hipst
