Who can explain me the difference....
ShaneShaneShane replied to Lemsky's topic in Solid State Technology
They're all different things. The Stage and Electro are sample-based, meaning they play back sounds of real instruments. The Lead 2x is a synthesizer, I had no idea they made a combo organ, and the modular is a software based modular synth. I think the stage is sort of a combination of the Electro and the Lead; I'm not sure as i've never played one, but for that amount of money it better be. I suppose the "best" for all-around application would be the Stage, as it does a little bit of everything. -
y'know, now that i think about it, and since i didn't see this post earlier, i would really, really enjoy a PM.

I distinctly remember seeing a website a while back that had a list of many popular entertainers (wilco included) and how much they typically cost per show and other information pertaining to booking a band. does anyone know what site that is?

i would love to hear them do Marquee Moon, but at the same time it's so similar to ALTWYS, that it'd be kind of..pointless. they should play Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft by Klaatu. or Bring on the Lucie by John Lennon. or maybe Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder by Frank Zappa. but definitely Slow Ride by Foghat.

Predictions for what song they will play on Letterman
ShaneShaneShane replied to unposed_question's topic in Just A Fan
the mix was kinda off, at least to my ears. but it sounded like Nels fumbled a bit and Jeff kinda sing-spoke for a portion of it. regardless, it was still great because it's Wilco. i enjoyed the smile he gave after "don't let anyone change your bag," which is just a great line. my favorite. edit: oh my god, that's so horrible. so strong of him to do Letterman, even after all of that. poor guy. -

Could someone PLEASE message me the Loose Fur albums?
ShaneShaneShane replied to magusmachine's topic in Just A Fan
has anyone ever heard the bonus track from BAITUSA, the Prelude for 110 or 220/Chelsea Walls Theme song? i'm assuming it's a mashup of Women of the World and the Chelsea Walls Theme like they did live, but has anyone actually heard the (i'm assuming) studio version of it? now that would be a nice thing to share, considering the import is like 25 bucks. -
it's their next to last album. YHF was their Sgt. Pepper, AGIB was their White Album, SBS is their Let it Be, and their next is their Abbey Road.

Any lyrics on the new album in particular stand out to you?
ShaneShaneShane replied to magusmachine's topic in Just A Fan
at first, like a lot of people, i found the lyrics to be generally shallow and lacking the depth of jeff's previous output. upon repeated listen, i realized that the emotion is just bare instead of veiling it in abstractions. one of the reasons i absolutely love Hate it Here. it's simple, but it works so beautifully and the ending is so sad. i feel the same way for What Light, as well. Overall, my favorite set of lyrics is probably Please Be Patient With Me. i really love the line How can I warn you when my tongue turns to dust Like we -

is there any way i can get a recording of Side with the Seeds? it's probably the only song that's been played live that i haven't gotten a chance to hear. edit: i did a search and found that website with the recordings of the new live songs. thanks anyway!

JT's Guitars on Current Solo Tour
ShaneShaneShane replied to Lance's topic in Solid State Technology
i feel like for the songs One By One, Hesitating Beauty, and What Light he was using a 12-string. it sounded like it to me, but i was too far away to verify whether or not this was the case. anyone know if i'm right and, if so, what type of guitar? -
i didn't notice it at the show, but in between the 1st chorus and the 2nd verse someone goes "power to the people say!" and i think that's the funniest thing i've heard in my entire life. i was literally crying last night from laughing so hard after i listened to it. i don't know why that's so funny. but it is.

that was probably the best show i've ever seen. and i got to meet him afterwards, which was incredible. i'm still in shock, because you know, that's like my John Lennon or something. and he was right there. and i took a picture with him. I was so surprised to hear Chinese Apple (which was amazing.) wooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaah. so shocked.

does anyone know what that new black solidbody guitar that jeff's using onstage is? i believe he used it for Let's Not Get Carried Away and something else (i forget.) also, did he get a new black version of the guitar he uses on Walken? it sure is pretty.

this was my 2nd time seeing them (last year i saw them at ACL) and OH MY GOD was i absolutely amazed. Impossible Germany was absolutely fantastic. i dug the altered verse of Heavy Metal Drummer ("she lifted up her shirt at the battle of the bands"...is that new or has he been doing that?) and of course the random explosions. and his seemingly endless banter on Kingpin. as well as the strange gesture of someone giving him a beer, even though he doesn't drink. what a great show!

Jeff Tweedy & Fred Armison (artist on artist myspace video)

is it just me, or does jeff have really big pit stains? and his hair is wet-looking. sweaty man. -
i'll be there all three days this year. last year i went sunday (just for wilco!) and i believe that was the highest temperature of any day of the festival ever. i think it might've also been the record high for that day. it was like the end of september and i think the temperature was something like 107 or 108 or something absurd like that.
