  1. I sleep all night and I work all day...
  2. What an experience - to be able to see and hear McCartney in such an intimate setting! Soak it all in - you have had a one in a lifetime experience... congrats doesn't cover it.
  3. Am I on the wrong internet? I thought this was the place to discuss our favorite band Wilco, and their fantastic music...
  4. I think Wilco would play the hell out of The Beatles' "I Dig A Pony" from Let It Be.... or maybe "Helter Skelter"...
  5. What is the naming convention when Jeff plays it with fans? http://owlandbear.com/downloads/20070224_t...flacf/Disc%202/ This is my favorite version ...
  6. I picked up this re-release, mostly for the DVD. It's short, but very nice to see the recording sessions for the 1st album. Lots of comments about Bob's two songs, and a segment on Roy. Most of it is home video stuff. The MTV videos from the 1st album look great to see again. I'm not a big fan of "Wilbury Twist" from Vol. 3, but the DVD has a new version that replaces most, but not all of the cameos from 1990. No more Milli Vanilli! Eric Idle and John Candy are still there in the beginning. I'm pretty sure YouTube has the original video. New video is on Amazon... I haven't listen
  7. WXRT played "Walken" yesterday, and "What Light" is played occasionally...
  8. For me at least, Mccartney peaked at this moment: Chris Farley: Um, hi. Welcome to The Chris Farley Show. I'm.. Chris Farley.. and, my guest tonight is.. one of the.. greatest musicians.. uh, rock musicians. I guess, songwriter, ever. [ Smacks himself ] GOD! That sounds stupid! God, I'm an idiot! I never know how to start these things! Paul McCartney: You're doing great, Chris. Chris Farley: [ hopeful ] Really? No, I'm not. [ hyperventilating ] Anyway.. I guess.. I didn't have, have to say, who you were, because.. man, I mean.. everyone knows who you are. Mmm.. you're Paul McCartney. P
  9. I'm currently reading Geoff Emerick's book and recommend it. With so many Beatle books, it's hard to name just one. Kind of depends what aspect of the Beatles you want to read about. I have a rather large Beatle library, going back to mid-70s books. There is an old one I like named "Apple To The Core", written by a hippie teenager who was working at Apple. The Beatles Anthology book is good for an overview, in their own words (lots of this comes from the video series interviews) The paperback version isn't as expensive as the hard cover... The Recording Sessions / Chronicles are very
  10. Interesting... From this...
  11. You know Nigel Tufnel's ad never caused an issue.... "What's wrong with being sexy?"
  12. I have that "It Was 20 Years Ago Today" special on VHS; taped it off of WTTW back in 87. Before the Beatles Anthology series, this was essential viewing for a Beatles fan. The interviews with George, Paul, Ringo, and George Martin are all very interesting for that time. I haven't watched it in a very long time, but I think they show a clip of Hendrix playing "Sgt. Pepper" live. I think I will dig out that tape a watch it again. Happy Anniversary Pepper... It's not my favorite Beatle album now, but it was when I was a kid.... I bought it on vinyl in the 70s when I was a teenager and p
  13. I heard it was 34,830 making that a grand total of 122,549
  14. I seem to remember that poster was sold out the night of the 11/24/06 show, so I bought it on Wilcoworld a week or so later. Then, I was very lucky enough to have Jeff sign it at the Barrington living room show in February. Must get that framed.... it's a fantastic poster.
  15. My thoughts exactly... and the lyrics are very obvious and easy to understand...
  16. Have you listened to this yet? What a night that was...
  17. Aren't some of those guys in that scene employees of WEA (Warner, Electra, Atlantic)?
  18. Even though Magical Mystery Tour was officially an EP, the other problem with the Beatles list was that Yellow Submarine was an official album, with only a couple of new left-over songs, and a bunch of George Martin instrumentals on side 2. UK: Beatles For Sale Help! Rubber Soul Revolver Sgt. Pepper US: Rubber Soul Yesterday and Today Revolver Sgt. Pepper Magical Mystery Tour
  19. On the way to work this morning, WXRT's Lin Brehmer mentioned they were featuring "Sky Blue Sky" all day today, now that they have the whole album. He then played "Walken", and afterwards said something like "it's about walking, but they spell it Walken, like Christopher Walken". Then he played an audio clip from the "more cowbell" SNL sktech... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/More_Cowbell
  20. "Someday Some Morning Sometime"... and "New Madrid" might work well...
  21. November 1, 2005 Auditorium Theatre Chicago A Benefit for Hurricane Relief. Front row. I was one of the WXRT front row auction winners (Aimee talked me into bidding). I was just getting into Wilco and playing bass in the Wilco ensemble at the Old Town School. A bunch of new friends from the Ensemble all went that night, and were scattered throughout the theatre. Some of us were also lucky enough to go to the sound check before the show. Good times... here's a photo TomR
