  2. It should be an Onion headline: Wilco Fan Already Imagining Disappointment in Next Album
  3. Yes he did. So that means: Andrew Bird, Richard Swift, Steve Malkamus, and Mavis Staples have all recorded there. Geez.
  4. Woops. Found it: http://wilcoworld.net/records/bonus/ Feel free to delete, mods. Sorry.
  5. Hey all. I know this comes up like once a year, but somehow I don't have a digital or physical copy of More Like the Moon and I wanted to put it on a mix for someone. I am totally willing to buy it, but there seems to be no vendors out there of that in digital world. Suggestions?
  6. Yeah, I've kind of had a rough go of things on a personal level this summer. I definitely have gotten a lot of comfort out of this song, and have given the Mavis version over at pitchfork a spin almost every day. Some days more than once.
  7. Un mil de gracias. Esta cancion es bella.
  8. This stuff is genius. Magnolia Electric Co "Dark Don't Hide It" Something held me down it made me make a promise That I wouldn’t tell if the truth forgets about us Saying it now comes easily After finding out how you’ve been using me At least the dark don’t hide it (x4) You only said you wanted friends For long enough to get rid of them You found the kind you knew would only kill you So you surrounded yourself with them At least the dark don’t hide it (x4) Now the world was empty on the day when they made it But heaven needed someplace to throw all the shit Human hearts and pain sho
  9. "Es oficial: no se puede sonar mejor que Wilco." It's official: you can't sound better than Wilco.
  10. Great song. Love the lyrics. The arrangement and mood is really cool. I don't get the distaste for it, or the album in general. Honestly I think both SBS and W(TA) are both amazing albums with about 3 or 4 weak points on each. I will happily take several more years of Wilco albums if 7 songs out of 11 are as thoroughly enjoyable, original, and well developed as their recent batting average has been. I like thinking about triremes row, I like singing along about the comfort of a kiss. Great for driving to work. That's just me....
  11. Good evening..... good night..... thankyou. And with that I'm going to bed. Its been fun kids.
  12. These guys have amazing amounts of energy. They're gonna need to sleep for 12 hours after this.
  13. He always finds a way to come up with a new and intense fuzz sound for the beginning of ITMWLY
  14. Still a little loose on this number with this lineup. Just proof it needs to be in the set more.
  15. Amazing maraca playing here, I'm not even joking. Way to put in the small details Pat!
  16. NPR has had some great streams lately (Dr. Dog, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Jonsi). So far I prefer the first disc to the second. That disc might be my favorite thing he's done since The Giant Pin.
  17. The dissonance is perfect, a sonic disruption for an already uneasy dream-like, murder ballad. It is the same idea flirted with on BT during "Misunderstood", and the same kind of narrative tear that makes YHF most defining moments. It was only logical that the band would later create a track that featured only dissonance and noise for the majority of its duration. Part of what makes it one of my favorite tracks on the record is it adds tension and lends to the surreal atmosphere conjured by the lyrics. Just like the images in the words it spontaneously goes out of focus and disappears a
  18. Sort of... I was more using the songs for examples of eras of the band. Again this is an interesting, but silly conversation. So if it seems frustrating (which I can see someone mouthing off about how something you like is 'less cool' can be pretty annoying) just ignore me. I was mostly interested in the idea of a musician being cooler in their 40's than in their 30's. I like music theory though too. And I will say that Impossible Germany has more complex chords, harmonies, counterpoint, dynamics and a greater musical arc. Overall it is more nuanced. I think this makes it a rich song t
  19. There's a lot more to the song than the solo. And by salad shooter are you critiquing Nels' diet? Also when cool seems like a burden, then it is definitively not cool. I wouldn't be surprised if being cool was very low on Jeff Tweedy's priorities. I also wouldn't be surprised if that fact was responsible for what I recognize as him becoming inexplicably cooler as he approaches middle-age. I think I use that word in a different way than it is being interpreted. I mean having a magnetic, artistic persona (the external) that operates in conversation with the art itself. Everyone has thei
  20. Awesome guys. The enthusiasm is refreshing. I'm 27 right now, and I definitely could stand to have my balls rocked off when I'm 54, or 64 like the McCartney song.
  21. Yes, it is totally sublime. Did they do a version of this at the residency?
