  1. Yeah, it seemed to be more of an iteration of the old: Right says, "You're all so PC you can't say Muslim when you're talking about terrorists," and Left says, "Yeah, we can, but Muslim isn't the point, there are 1.7 billion followers of the faith and the overwhelming majority are peaceful people." If you want to play "Freebird" I can ask the gun enthusiasts if they feel they're the victims of tyranny since they've lost their right to carry box cutters on a plane, but then again that conversation seldom goes anywhere new.
  2. It depends on what you mean by "these guys". If these guys are the people who shoot up planned parenthood or gay night clubs because they're armed religious fanatics, I'll say you're right they're terrorists. What I won't do is lump all Christians or Muslims into one category or tolerate a candidate who attempts to do so.
  3. http://www.cc.com/video-clips/kb2x61/the-daily-show-with-trevor-noah-advice-for-hillary-clinton "Oh no she has a shrill voice, it hurts my man ears."
  4. Someone explained this in another thread a year or two ago but I'm not smart enough to find it. I want to say it was a publishing issue as they were parting with Nonesuch. Perhaps one of the reasons the rarities box was cheekily titled Alpha Mike Foxtrot.
  5. Yeah, he busted some rhymes there, (I especially like Elevator Music) but that always felt like some weirdo alt hip hop. Something about the beat and production "It's like wow...". It seems like he's trying to make Kanye jealous.
  6. That song is sooooo hip hop to me. It's like he wondered "How hip hop can a blonde 45 year old get?". This song answered the question.
  7. Trump's selling point, right here: "There was a time when offhand remarks could be made by just about any straight white man with a little money. Now you have all these "types" "throwing it in your face" and if you call it like you see it then they jump down your throat, the media might skewer you, you can even get fired. Now here comes a guy who's tired of having to watch what you say." Sure this is a caricature, but my father in law is a nice man who wishes no harm to any particular individual, but as far as I can tell this is how he feels. Some folks are tired of feeling ashamed for re
  8. Have you heard what he said? Do you remember what Obama was saying?
  9. I've never had the chance to see them do the whole SW album live. I'd love to see it. I think they figure there are a lot of people like me out there. The average person, even a big fan, doesn't see them three times a year.
  10. Nailed it. Lock the thread, our work is done here.
  11. #shouldabeenwalsh I keed, I keed. Sad stuff.
  12. Man. I love downtown Montevideo. I need to buy my own plane after I get rich.
  13. Not since we heard that specific comment on its existence. At this point one can only speculate if the extensive touring is evidence that it is forthcoming or the opposite.
  14. Let's be honest here. Clinton supporters have to acknowledge some flaws or they're partially in denial. Trump supporters either have a pathological tendency toward denial or they're batshit crazy. Then again, Bernie supporters seem to carry some denial themselves.
  15. Obama changed his position on gay marriage. I like how that turned out.
  16. I still wish we could watch O'Malley debate Kasich as the respective nominees. They'd be all, "I hear what you're saying, and I know you believe that will help Americans the most, but I just can't agree. Several studies suggest.... There's a historical precedent.... We both agree that the working poor deserve a better chance." Instead we're bracing for a brutal summer and fall of crappy reality TV and vitriol.
  17. It's like, when are the rich gonna catch a break in this country? If this radical agenda doesn't end soon they'll be trapped in the category of merely wealthy.
  18. Sorry, I realize that's kind of an insulting question for those of us who aren't out of our gourds. Just thought I'd double check where the sidelines were
  19. Sarcasm doesn't always read. Do you mean it sincerely?
  20. Yeah, that Venezuela comment was off the cuff, but it stuck in my academic craw. How can you be a wall apologist and make vague allusions to communist scaries? Remember that one famous wall in Berlin? Jingoist, draconian domestic policy aside Venezuela's biggest economic problems are rooted in "drill baby drill" short sightedness and shortages caused by hostile protectionist trade policies. You know who has echoed that kind of approach? "Make America Great Again" himself. Incidentally, for someone with that world view, when exactly was America great?
  21. Well it's more expensive than a wall, but might just have a few more benefits. As for countries that commit these public higher ed atrocities you can also look at Germany, France, Finland and Norway and then look into their scoring on the human development index. Not too scary.
  22. I saw Nels at Dazzle a year or so ago with the Singers. It was cool to sit down and watch in that environment. I could have pegged him with my dinner roll with an underhand toss.
