  1. Whoa, there's some crazy stuff in there. I wonder why they're cleaning out the loft?
  2. Romney is looking pretty moderate these days, even with his "self deportation" and x% of the people will vote for Obama so they can get handouts comments. He was no Carson or Trump, I'll give him that.
  3. I talk to Hixter because he clearly disagrees with many of my beliefs (microbreweries are not one of them) and it challenges me. It would probably challenge me more for the left wing majority on here (including myself) to get nuanced enough on policy that we can actually disagree. Let me see if I can tee that up, My Opinion on Potentially Controversial Issues: Raise the minimum wage nationally: Yes, with a cautious roll out. Key stone pipeline: Doesn't actually matter environmentally, but it is pretty bad for property rights. Small businesses:
  4. The federal removal of this weapon would create some consistency to avoid confusion. You would then need to find something else to shoot with. You can shoot skeet, elk, targets and the rare home invader using other models.
  5. Yeah the last one's great! Pretty tough tie between the last 3 records for me and they tower over her earlier work.
  6. Better late than never. I think Cruz got ahead of his competitors there.
  7. So a domestic terrorist shoots up a Planned Parenthood in CO springs, kills a cop and the GOP candidates say NOTHING. Interesting.
  8. You're half right here. It is an intellectual exercise because you're theorizing what you would hypothetically do in the worst imaginable situation which luckily has not happened. Where you're right is when you say you have an evolutionary impulse to protect your family. Fact is, we can all stay up late imagining some situation where some bastard is a threat to our loved ones. Hell, play the fear game long enough and I can worry about someone raping my wife and making a hat out of my dog. These thoughts don't come from my normal workaday consciousness. I'm of the opinion that they aren't my
  9. Yeah, I can just let 97 of my fellow Americans get shot down so the other 3 assholes go down in a legally defensible manner. Quite a lottery!
  10. That's easier to say than to live with. Good news is you won't have to. This terrible story about intruders and your loved children is exactly the same one gun advocates keep imagining over and over.
  11. Oh shit you're right. Ha! So 3% sounding pretty good? Still getting kicked off of my baseball team.
  12. What is statistically significant is the ratio of 259 justifiable homicides- that is guns doing what they're designed to do (kill living beings) in a legal situation- to 8,342 criminal homicides by firearm. That means guns are batting .003, or .3% when lethally fired at someone. The other 99.7% was murder. This doesn't account for suicides which is a greater number.
  13. My friend and I drank a bunch of my Mom's gin and then sprayed model airplane fuel on the patio to light on fire. What I hadn't realized is that model airplanes have two stroke engines, so there's oil in the fuel. I woke up to see a pentagram in brown on my parents' white patio. I snuck a bucket of soapy water and a brush to scrub it before they noticed, but to no avail. 13 year old boys can be dangerously stupid. In fact my career as a pot smoker indirectly ended my days of playing with fire.
  14. It probably benefits her. She's got more foreign policy experience than every other candidate, and she's no dove.
  15. http://www.latimes.com/opinion/opinion-la/la-ol-guns-self-defense-charleston-20150619-story.html This one says opinion but also utilizes facts.
  16. Yeah, this could lead to some more serious repercussions. I know Putin is a douche, but seriously, who backs Assad? He's an incompetent douche.
  17. You're confusing it with "Sour Grapes-My Life in Flannel" by Jay Farrar.
  18. The other twist is the planners of the Paris attacks weren't from Syria. Following the knee-jerk logic of the right we should start barring Belgians from entering the U.S.
  19. But scientifically speaking, race does not exist. Judaism, like the Nation of Islam, brings with it an ethnicity. Racism and anti-ethnic bias are pretty much the same kind of shitty. The difference is one is more in line with our current anthropological and biological understanding, while the other sounds better.
  20. I'm not convinced being vigilant of outwardly racist attitudes is childish.
  21. I think there are some assumptions being made here. Also, for the record, mass immigration without background checks has been an element in our country since the beginning.
