  1. I think Wilco's been blessed to have the drummers they've had; Kotche brings that Neil Peart / Jazz Drummer side of things to the band. I was watching "I've Got You" on YouTube the other day, and Koomer's also inhuman; he brought a great John Bonham quality to the band.
  2. while we're at it, don't forget ringo!
  3. Pat's got some golden pipes; listen to Autumn Defense #3
  4. I melt at "I have no idea how this happened!" Just with the timing when it comes in, the intensity of the music, and so forth; it's such a beautiful moment.
  5. Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) checks himself into rehab
  6. I'm guessing this is the breakdown: Nels: Either Way YAMF IG Side w/ the Seeds Second solo on Walken Tweedy: SBS/Patient with Me Hate it Here First one on Walken Pat: Pretty much the entire outro of Walken Mike: On and on and on
  7. I loved Pat's organ fills on the B section of the song in the LP, but they totally weren't coming out here; Agreed; Jorgensen's work is great in this song.
  8. That's like, the fifth time you've made the "beautiful=boring" joke; so you're clearly much hipper than us; are you done now?
  9. I'll have to say that while I like this version, I can't help but love the Conan version, which sounded like some lovely lost B-Side to Rubber Soul
  10. So yeah, now that the b-sides are out... feel free to follow up with your own, but don't leave out half the album just 'cuz you don't like some tracks... 1) Either Way 2) You Are My Face 3) Sky Blue Sky 4) Side with the Seeds 5) The Thanks I Get 6) Hate It Here 7) Patient with Me 8) Impossible Germany 9) Leave Me (Like You Found Me) 10) Walken 11) What Light 12) One True Vine 13) On and On and On This list is just fantasy, because I think the sequencing for SBS is almost perfect, so I tried to keep it intact as much as I could. I basically moved up "IG", because it's definately more powerf
  11. Well, if you listen to the album expecting it to be "Giant Pin Meets Wilco!" instead of objectively taking it as it is, you'll be disappointed no matter what.
  12. My two favorite songs are 'You Are My Face' and 'Side with the Seeds' because they are a gorgeous blend of accessibility, beauty, and experimentation and originality. But I'll try and give my opinions on all the songs; Either Way: I wouldn't exactly say the best song on the album; this is the epitome of the dad rock syndrome, but god, this song's still beautiful. From when the strings come in through "Maybe the sun will shiiiiiine tuh-day!" is just so gorgeous. Originally, I thought Nels was technically interesting as a guitarist, but this proved straight up that he could do some beautiful,
  13. They did it at Merriweather in '05. It was the greatest Kidsmoke-segue ever!
  14. I think the Guardian nailed it when they referred to IG as Marquee Moon by Television in Cardigan sweaters.
  15. 1. AM 2. Being There 3. Summerteeth 4. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 5. A Ghost Is Born 6. Sky Blue Sky.
  16. Agreed; for every Tweedy/Nels mind meld, Pat and Mike should've definately had something. Although I'll have to say, Pat's piano work, and Mike's eerie Hammond work easily owned "On and On and On"
  17. I know you're just trolling by your last sentence, but never the less, what are you smoking? There's so much stuff on this album that is both musically and poetically more rich on an artistic level compared to what Tweedy put out when he was on substances.
  18. Fear not; my angst was directed at Wilcoworld making it so elusive to get the song. Thanks for the link.
  19. where the hell do i get this lovely song?
  20. I think it's impossible to grade the albums; each one, in its own context is a really good album; when you compare them, only then does one begin to sound weaker than the next. I.E. Summerteeth is amazing in its own right, it really represents the fucked up situation Jeff was in around that time, but once Sky Blue Sky came out, Summerteeth seemed to have become irrelevant in all its' teenage rantings. So, "apples and oranges" I say
