I agree...there are times when I think those who live out their misfortunes/embarrassments in public are receiving their just deserts. One can't have it both ways. I do feel badly for those who don't actively seek that spotlight and are just thrust into it- especially when it concerns things of a sensitive nature. In the case of Bale (who has been my favorite actor since Empire of the Sun...I think he's really an artist), an arrest is a matter of public record- not salacious gossip, invading his privacy, etc. I do hope it turns out to be much ado....

Thanks for the heads up! There are a few there that I don't have. I usually check it every few days or so. I love that blog...one of the fine folks here at the VC put up a link ages ago and I've been reading it ever since. I can't wait for part two!

Could be...but I don't think The Dark Knight needs any boost- they are doing just fine at the box office. Plus, Bale has always been a bit on the reclusive side.

I'll be so disappointed if this is true.... Link "The Associated Press updated 4:32 a.m. PT, Tues., July. 22, 2008 LONDON - Batman star Christian Bale was to be questioned by police over allegations he assaulted his mother and sister the night before the European premiere of his film, "The Dark Knight," British media reported Tuesday. His mother and sister reportedly complained that the 34-year-old actor assaulted them at a west London hotel on Sunday. Britain's Press Association said they made the allegation at a police station in south England on Monday and that the allegation was pass

Ha! I deliberated even posting the link as it might hurt my chances...but the only thing I appreciate almost as much as Wilco is Wilco fans.

Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward = She & Him
mollyegan replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Okay, I'm all for this duo. I haven't listened to it much, but I LOVE her voice and am not opposed to M. Ward, per se. I am also all for poetic license...but their name flouts everything I hold dear as a Grammar Nazi. "She" and "Him" are in the subjective and objective cases, respectively. One wouldn't say, "Him went to the store." Grrrrr. I know, I know. I'm being SUPER SUPER anal...it's just one of my pet peeves and I wondered if there weren't any other folks that are irritated by this egregious misuse of the English language. At this point I shall step off of my soap box and return to my b -
So Wilco posted this link on myspace (No judging!), but I didn't see anything on wilcoworld or here on the VC. Has anyone signed up? I have tickies, but am always looking to upgrade or recruit other friends to shows. Anyone know much about this site and/or it's contests? JamBase Wilco contest Either way, good luck to y'all! *I do realize that if the payoff is going to a Wilco show then it is indubitably "worth" it...so maybe this is less question and more command- enter!

Jeff Tweedy, Glenn Kotche & Pat Sansone @ Park West July 11
mollyegan replied to Dr. Steve Brule's topic in After The Show
Danny Miller just posted a blog with video from Park West... http://dannymiller.typepad.com/blog/ -
It wasn't earth-shattering...and if memory serves, had little to do with RFK the man. That said, I actually enjoyed it as a dictum on the general zeitgeist. Plus the subplot concerning Shia LeBouf and drug use is pretty hysterical. I was also relieved at Sharon Stone's performance...it hearkened back to her performance as Ginger- but more somber and real without any of her real-life craziness. I really loved her. Demi Moore also made a fabulous has-been drunk. Thanks for that...I got choked up.

I don't want to copy you, but would you mind if I just went out and got myself impregnated just to steal that name? Love it. And I especially love that it doesn't have that over the top super-cutesy novelty ring to it...that shit is unconscionable (cf. Moxie Crimefighter Jillette, Pilot Inspektor Lee, and on and on). CONGRATULATIONS!!

Perhaps the most random request ever...
mollyegan replied to mollyegan's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Thank you! -
Google images has failed me. It's a long story, but does anyone have a still image of the Family Truckster from National Lampoon's Vacation with "Honky Lips" spray-painted on the side? It KILLS me. Thanks!

This is as good a time as any...I had also searched the forums to see if there is any limit on requests? I am not trying to inundate the band or anything, but really wanted to request a song that wasn't on the list and submitted my request before I was able to get greedy and ask for a certain crowd participation song in addition. I don't want to jinx it either but I have missed The Thanks I Get at the last few shows and really want a sing-a-long! Does anybody know if they limit requests?

So will you be going to both? Jesus, I'm tempted. My issue is the cash factor. Although I may have a place I could stay down there....is that show GA? Ah. Just looked it up...looks like a beautiful venue! Hmmm.

All Songs Considered: About a Song: I Am Trying to Break Your Heart
mollyegan replied to gogo's topic in Just A Fan
Pure poetry. I think that often the relationship that the reader/listener develops with the words is underestimated. As each person has a different experience, etc. he or she brings a different history to their own understanding...does that make sense? For example, I have a friend who writes poetry and always wants to read it to me and explain it to me. I appreciate that but I think that it makes for a more meaningful experience when the audience is left to draw their own conclusions and develop their own relationship with the words. Don't get me wrong, I'd love NOTHING more than to sit with T -
I have always admired Bobby, even more so than JFK...he seemed to be the moral compass. 1968 was a hell of a year.

http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?sho...amp;hl=calexico I did find this thread. I've really enjoyed the soundtrack...there a very few songs that I haven't enjoyed. I listen to it a lot and consider it money well spent.

I'm an equal opportunity cheese-lover. However, Beecher's Handmade Cheese in Seattle is TO DIE FOR. They have the world's best Mac and Cheese. I believe that the recipe is available online or in one of their cookbooks. If nothing else, the Flagship cheese is worth shipping costs: Beecher's Handmade Cheese

YAY!!! I'm in the same row...see you there. I'm excited to show off my decade long obsession with my hometown friends!! I wish I could make the Boise show....but that's a long trek.

I was a waitress for years and worked with a gal who was a pretty good waitress, but would often interrogate people as this woman did. I just find in INCREDIBLY unprofessional and indicates a lack of general awareness. I probably would have done the same thing. The older I get the less I am willing to let things like that slide...I have this new thing where I calmly explain my position to people. Most times they are shocked at my addressing the subject and feel embarrassed. It's awesome. However, since WW knows this woman personally....that's a sticky situation. Ugh.

I still love it. It just makes me happy.

Don't know if I'm too late, or if this is redundant....but The Stinking Rose is my favorite restaurant in the world. Garlic EVERYTHING, including ice cream- which sounds gross but is amazing.

Fun! I'm OBSESSED with etymology.
